@rahlyrah: Yes, I forgot about Mum Mums. R ate those before puffs cause it was bigger and she could pick those up.

I wouldn't worry about it at this stage. FWIW, my LO was never really into putting things in her mouth. 9 times out of 10, if she did it was related to teething not just to try to eat the object.

@Smurfette: I haven't tried walking away yet. I'll try that tonight. I also picked up some mum cookies today to see if he will eat them.

I know I sound like a nut-bag.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just be glad that he doesn't put everything in his mouth, it is super annoying and gross.

I want to say 8 months is when R started getting good about eating puffs and 9 months wanting to feed herself. But she still has no issues with us feeding her applesauce.

Do you just put puffs on the tray? R does better with new things when we aren't watching her/sitting in front of her. If I give her something on a plate and go in the kitchen, so I can see and hear her, she does so much better.

I know it seems like a good problem to have but I worry nonetheless. LO (8 months) doesn't put anything in his mouth. He never tries to put toys in his mouth and won't take a teether/mesh feeder. He's never taken a pacifier and instead just sucks on his tongue.

I worry because isn't this technically a mile stone? Everything I read says that he should be putting everything in his mouth at this age and warns about sensory processing disorders.

He will eat purées from a spoon, and will eat pretty much anything from my plate if I feed it to him, but shows zero interest in feeding himself.

Does anyone else have an LO who just isn't a mouther? Did he/she have any issues self feeding?
