I read a blog at weebeedreaming.com that was a lifesaver for me. A few things I got from it
1) don't push back the bedtime. Often babies/toddlers wake early morning because they are overtired. They should be in bed no later then 3.5-4 hours after they wake from their last nap.
2) black out the room. Use tinfoil on the window if you don't have a proper blackout thingy.
3) remove all stimulation from the crib, only keeping in a blanket if they use it and a lovey.
4)try feeding dinner earlier. ( don't remember the specifics on this one, sorry)

Check out her blog, she's a sleep consultant and has tons of useful info :)

I don't know if it was a fluke or if it will be a new thing but baby F was able to go back to sleep until almost 6!

Welcome! If I remember correctly that was around the time my LO1 went to one nap. She was going to bed at 7 but then waking at 4/ 4:15am. She was napping around 8/9 am and nap 2 was 1/2pm. Eventually we were able to get her down to one nap and she started waking at her usual 6/7 (which is a whole lot better!) how is her second nap (when she takes it) been? My LO's second nap also started to get shorter and shorter so just with a little adjusting of the first nap and a push through the afternoon finally got us into a one nap schedule.

We already co-sleep, it was the only solution that seemed to help after the failed sleep training. And she normally has one nap in the middle of the day, about 11:30 to 1:30 or 2, but sometimes she takes two shorter naps. I think she would take two naps more often but I work 4 days a week and is often tired by 8:30 or 9 but that is when my parents show up to watch her and the excitement of grandma and grandpa coming over often re-energizes her , even if we try to put her down that time.

Thanks again!

Welcome! I agree with you- no one should have to start the day that early! Will she co sleep? When my LO wakes up too early, often one of us will go sleep with her in the bed in her room (we have an extra queen bed in the nursery). For a while only DH could because if I went in she wanted to nurse, but once she night weaned it was ok. Do you have blackout shades in her room? White noise?

CIO never worked for us during motn wake ups- her stubbornness always outlasted ours. :(

I hope you find something that works! That's brutal.

My two thoughts ahare pushing bedtime back a bit or shortening naps. Honestly when my 12 month old wakes up I bring him to bed with me and he usually falls back asleep. If that doesn't work then I give him a bottle.

Maybe try a later bedtime? This is just a wild guess though. My lo is only 8 months and not a great sleeper.

The only thing that worked for our LO was to bring him in bed with us at that point. So for a while, he woke up around 3 every night and got in bed with us. Then he'd go back to sleep. :bummed: Not a solution that works for everyone but I needed sleep!

Welcome! I don't have a lot of suggestions but I did struggle through early morning wakeups for quite a while. Once she woke up there was no getting her back to sleep. Weaning and walking were the two things that coincided with making it past 5am. I hope your LO starts sleeping later soon!

Hello! I have been lurking for a little while but have been too shy to join. But I need some serious help with sleep. I have a beautiful 14 month old baby girl who has been the worst sleeper since birth. Until recently she has been waking up at least every two hours, often more. We have sleep trained twice and met with a sleep consultant and nothing really helped. Finally, I night weaned and that really helped. She now sleeps pretty consistently until 3:30 am but doesn't really go back to sleep again AT ALL, if we are lucky she has a 20-40 minute sleep again but mostly it's just restless. I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions? We have have done CIO for this wake up but it just hasn't helped consistently, she goes to bed between 7:00 and 7:30 most nights, she doesn't nurse to sleep anymore. I just am out of ideas and was hoping someone else might have some because 3:30 is too early for anyone to start the day!
