@T.H.O.U.: :happy:

Just spoke to his dental office. Since the kids are only allowed to drink while seated at meal times the spouted is fine at daycare. Now, I can go back to being an involved parent, but not *that mom.*

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: So again, maybe this is just a temporary solution while they are learning the new room and then they will get the learning open cups. So maybe for 6-8 months? I really doubt using it a few times a day is going to mess up his oral health.

@T.H.O.U.: I am not sure what they do in the next room, but according to his old room's teacher this room was supposed to be open cup room. This morning was definitely a surprise.

We are seeing his doctor on Monday, but they want the note faxed ASAP. Booo lol

Also, how long will they use these? I know our daycare only uses sippy cups from like age 1 year until about 18-20 months when they start to transition to open cups. So for that short period of time, I would be fine.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: not a daycare but a licensed sitter she provides take and toss but we can definetly bring our own

I do not do sippy spouts so that would not be ok with me

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Nah, our daycare uses those same take and toss cups at meals. DS uses a 360 at home and it's been totally fine as far I can tell.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Wow, that seems kind of crazy to me, but I'd think your pediatrician would be happy to write you a note if you asked! If I had a pediatrician (or dentist) appointment coming up, I'd probably take the time to get a note, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get a note.

@Adira: the administrator said they are highly regulated and they would need a note on file in case the state asks why this one child has a different cup than everyone else. The note can come from his ped or dentist.

Would you really need a note? Our daycare provides those spouted sippy cups too, but they were perfectly fine with me bringing in my own cup for my kids and using those.

LO moved up to a new room at daycare. One benefit is they provide take & toss sippy cups for meals, but they use spouted sippys. Based on my research when it was time to transition LO from a bottle to a sippy I read that spouted are not the best option for prolonged oral health. He's been using a straw sippy and a Camelbak water bottle. We have been slowly introducing the 360 trainer cup and plan to try that cup all weekend.

We are a house divided. Would you get a doctor's note so your child could continue using a straw sippy at daycare? And once he masters the 360 cup getting a note for him to use that at daycare? He's in daycare 11 hours a day, and gets milk or water at five meals/ snack times.
