In addition to my comment above, I have to admit that I'm Honda CRV owner and probably will stick with Hondas but that Ford we drove was really nice.

We got a 4Runner as our family car and it has worked out really well. We bought it 10 years old and everyone thinks it's brand new because it has held up so well. I am still driving the car I bought at 22 so I'm interested to read these responses- I will probably be due for a Mommy car soon. I've considered a second 4Runner but it's a little big for me when I drive it.

@HLK208: good to know you like the captain chairs :) . We are done after this 2nd baby so hopefully the highlander will be just the right size for us. I keep looking at the Sequoia bc it has so much room but I could not imagine driving (and parking) such a giant car everyday

@sandy: we looked at a lot of highlanders but I don't think I saw one that didn't have the captain seating/removable middle seat unless they were older. We love the captain seating!

We have a Toyota highlander and it's been great, however, now that we have three it feels pretty tight. DH thinks a suburban would be the best fit for our family of 5...but I don't want to feel like I'm driving a boat!

Another vote for the Highlander from a mom of 2 who drives one and loves it! I had a Pilot before, and I liked it, but I like the Highlander more. I think the 2nd row captain chairs sealed the deal for us.

ETA: the middle row can convert from 2 captain chairs to row seating that accomodates 3. It's two separate pieces, and the one you're not currently using is stowed under the 1st row's center console.

@filly: so you have the highlander limited with captain seats for the 2nd row? What's this middle jump seat? We're likely getting a highlander for our next car and are leaning towards the captain seats for the second row

I had an Acura sedan and when we learned we were expecting twins we knew the first change we were going to 'have' to make was the car. I got a Toyota Highlander and it has been 110% perfect.

We got it when I was around 12/13 weeks pregnant and now our twins are 21 months. I get in and out fine, I can lift them in and out fine and it fits all the junk I schlep around.

We have a 3rd row and our second ow has 2 bucket seats + a jump seat in the center should someone need to sit between the girls.

If you have any question please let me know and Good Luck with your search

We have a Ford Flex and love it. It is really comfy and has a 3rd row. With the 3rd row down, you can fit in a ton of stuff! With the 3rd row up, it still has quite a bit of storage room.

I love everything about our Nissan Pathfinder! I find it very roomy, love the third row (though we mostly have it folded down for extra trunk space) and it came with a lot of "luxury" extras without a crazy price tag.

I love my pilot. We looked at the Nissan Pathfinder and it had no room in the back! I like that I can fold the backseat down when we don't need it and have all that additional storage space. I get about 20 mpg so not horrible for a big vehicle.

So I have a Nissan Rogue now- but the backseat is SO small with just LO#1's car seat, I cant imagine having a second car seat back there, along with all the other junky we need to carry around with 2 kids! So DH said its time for an bigger car. (I JUST paid my car off- so I am not so excited about having a car payment again!) Anyone have a recommendation for a good car that is bigger than a Rogue? It needs to be pretty good on gas, as I travel over 90 miles a day for work. And as much as I want a luxury vehicle- I don't think its in the budget right now! ;-)
