Emma is five days old and I'm lucky to get two hours (thank God I've been a lousy sleeper for years anyway). My husband doesn't get up with her but is suffering from the minor breaks in his sleep.

I'm not getting much sleep. DD is 2 weeks old and loves to nurse so I'm getting 2-4 hours a day. At night she likes to nurse anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours and she is eating every 2 hours start to start not leaving much room for me to sleep.

When L was a newborn, I think I slept about 4-5 hours a day (in 2 hour chunks). I had a really hard napping during the time, so I would just crash at night for a couple hours.

Ahh, the lovely newborn days...

My son is 1 week old.
I'd say 4-6 hours:
about 4h through out night
1-2 during day when he naps
he naps a lot but I have to shower/clean/eat/pump so I can't sleep too much
P.S: I'm writing this one handed while nursing....ahhh...

@coco bee I wish we could do that, but since I'm staying at home and DH works 12 hr+ days, I let him sleep. A few days ago he took a night to himself and barely slept at all but I got 7ish hours in a row, minus the time I briefly woke up when he was warming a bottle. Weirdly I think I felt worse that day! Lol.

@skirpa sounds a little like my LO, but she's been variable lately!

@lydg that is AMAZING at 7 weeks! 9-10pm to 3-4am is at least 5 hours!!! My LO has done that in the past but nothing consistent. Mostly after being exhausted from fussing about something. Any tips?

@heatherloveskenny I would love six hours! Is there anything special you did or is that just your LO?

LO is 4 days old, and I am also having a really hard time sleeping during the day. Last night I got two 2 hour stretches and maybe a half hour this morning. Today I think I"m finally feeling the effects of a few days with no sleep!

I'm seriously very lucky and am getting 8 hours or so a day. Emme is 3 weeks. She sleeps 4 hour stretches at night, so we both go to bed at 9, feed and pump at 1, and sleep from 2-6 and then sleep 7-9:30. I usually get a cat nap in the afternoon too from 2-3. I know I'm spoiled but she loves her sleep.

He normally goes down for the night around 9-10 and has the longest stretch, waking sometime between 12 & 2. After that it's anyone's guess. Last night we has 2 stretches about 2.5 hours each but then he refused to sleep in his bed longer than 15 min at a time. He doesn't nurse for very long before falling back to sleep but I have to wait for him to be sound asleep before putting him back to bed. I won't lie...he usually sleeps in our bed after 4 or 5 because I am too tired at that point. Sometimes he likes to get up for the day relatively early by 7-ish but normally I can convince him to wait til closer to 9. Some days I nap when he does and feel so much better.

Back then DH and I took turns so I was able to sleep 2-3 hour stretches about twice at night. So I slept 4-6 hours give or take. But they were broken up; say I slept 10-1, then I would take "next shift" and not go back to sleep until 5am.

@photojane I apparently am getting less sleep than is average. My LO gets bad gas in the mornings and refuses to sleep well after the first night wakeup. I'm going to try a few new things for that. I didn't think I would do well on this amount of sleep but actually, I worry so much about sleep but the worry seems worse than the reality at almost six weeks. :) (And at the end of pregnancy I was sleeping about 10-12/day, so I was REALLY a big sleeper!)

A is only a week old right now. He usually eats around 10-11 pm and then I go to sleep after that feeding. He's eating every 2-3 hours. I get up 3-4 times and feedings take about 30-45 minutes. I don't usually get up for the day until 9-10 am so I'm getting about 7 hours of sleep every night. I don't feel the need to nap during the day.

I'm not really a new mom since DD is 4 months old but between 2-6 weeks, I was getting the same amount of sleep as @Running Elley. Our schedule was the same until 6 weeks when she had her first 6 hour stretch (which to me, is sleeping through the night, haha).

Elliot usually goes down for the night at 10 (when I get into bed and go to sleep too) and we're usually up to feed about every 3-4 hours so 1, 4 and 7. after the 7am feeding I'm usually up for the day and I have trouble napping with him during the day too. Feedings take us about 45 minutes-an hour during the night so I usually average about 6 hours of sleep.

ETA: He's 2 weeks old.

I am in bed with LO between 11-ish and anywhere between 9-11am. We end up getting 7-8 hours in total with wake ups every 3 hrs or so.

I won't be able to sleep in until 11am when I return to work though :-(.

I can't sleep during the day..stinks.

She eats around 7pm, 10pm, 2am, 6am and 9am and will sleep in between! She has days where she naps all day (today) and not at all (two days ago), but her nighttime sleep is pretty decent so far!
