No, I wouldn't. Then again I had horrible MS in my first pregnancy (throwing up 10+ times a day) and didn't take anything. I would only consider something if I was needing to be hospitalized for my n+v. (And I would be taking sub lingual vitamins so getting proper vit & min wouldn't be an issue)

Just an update: Diclegis isn't new. It's been around for over 30 years. It was previously called Bendectin and, yes, it was sold in Canada during the time it wasn't sold in the U.S. It was not pulled from the U.S. market by the FDA, but the litigation in the U.S. stopped anyone from selling it here, according to this: http://www.volokh.com/2013/04/09/bendectin-is-back/.

I wouldn't take it but then again I'm not a fan of taking anything in pregnancy that I don't have to absolutely take like my prenatals and synthroid...for anything else I would try to exhaust all other options first.

Like others have said, I think this is called Diclectin in Canada. I took it for a good ten weeks or so, and it was a lifesaver.

I'm not sure, I was offered Zofran when I was pregnant but refused because she said there is always a risk, even though small (which is with any medication) and I freaked out and figured I could just suck it up, for the peace of mind. So....probably not. I would try more natural remedies first.

We have that in Canada, though it is known as Diclectin. I had to take it for a full 8 months during my pregnancy because I was nauseous, vomiting and dizzy almost every day.

I would never have survived without it!

I wouldn't. Too new for me. I am a late-jump on the band wagon kind of person.
I did take Zofran.
But, Zofran is a well tested drug given to cancer patients to help them with nausea (chemotherapy causes severe nausea). My FIL is an oncologist so he prescribed it every.single.day and he called my OB to tell her I needed it. She gave it to me and I was a happy preggo after that. I had MS all throughout my 9 months.

I took Zofran after I was losing too much weight and was getting sick 7-8 times a day. It was a lifesaver for me, I would take that again if I needed it over a new drug.

Looks like it is Unisom and B6 - which I did take for nausea. I'd take this if it was prescribed, that way I could get insurance to cover rather than paying out of pocket.

I had severe morning sickness, and was prescribed Zofran. It worked well for me, so I would probably just take Zofran again instead of a new drug.

Also, Diclegis lists drowsiness or sleepiness, which can be severe, is the most common side effect reported by women taking the drug. Its hard enough to function while nauseous, I wouldn't want to be sleepy on top of everything else.

@Foodnerd81: @Meltini: @mrskc: Ditto. I had bad nausea and felt like I had food poisoning for the first 8 weeks of my pregnancy...but this drug is new and I don't trust it. This made me think of Thalidomide babies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalidomide

I wouldn't take it. Maybe if my morning sickness was very severe but even then I would prefer to take something that's been around awhile. I also don't trust the FDA especially when it can affect my unborn baby. Wasn't there something in the 80s they deemed "safe" and later found it caused birth defects? Yeah, so no I wouldn't take it.

I am not a fan of taking new medications because I don't trust the FDA. I would be willing to take it if it is still considered safe in 15-20 years. Of course by then, I will be too old to want to have more babies.

I wouldn't, but only because my morning sickness wasn't THAT bad. it sucked, but I just felt nauseous all day, never had vomiting. If it was worse and enough to keep me from day to day stuff, I would consider it, though I'd rather use something that had been around longer.

This is from the FDA's press release:

"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Diclegis (doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride) to treat pregnant women experiencing nausea and vomiting.

Diclegis is a delayed-release tablet intended for women who have not adequately responded to conservative management of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, such as dietary and lifestyle modifications. These modifications include eating several small meals instead of three large meals, eating bland foods that are low in fat and easy to digest and avoiding smells that can trigger nausea."

http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm347087.htm

What do you think? Would you take this?
