I'm sorry to have such as blatant answer but: I wouldn't even dream of staying there! They seem so unorganized. I can't imagine if ever they mixed something up with you that was of higher importance.....say they read the wrong u/s or read your GD tests wrong...or gave you someone else's dosage of meds/vitamins or something...NO thanks.

cannot imagine traveling that far each week later in pregnancy, and then also driving the hour (plus!) to get to the hospital when it's go time!

I would definitely consider switching, even at this point! You want to make sure you feel comfortable with not only the doctor, but the practice as a whole.

I am also in a similar situation where I need to make a switch (23 weeks now) due to an upcoming move. I have been playing phone tag with the doctor's office in which I am most interested, but am nervous that they might not take me on at this point either. We are moving about an hour away from my current OB and I just

I switched at 20 weeks and was way happier. Some Dr do not take new patients if they are too far along however so definitely call around now just in case. 2 out of the 3 docs I was looking at stopped taking patients after 16 weeks into a pregnancy. Goodluck! :)

I highly recommend switching! Having confidence in your care providers is essential. I've read a few stories online about women who switched much later in their pregnancies, so I'm sure that even if it's inconvenient, you'll be able to find someone new. Good luck!

Wow, I would definitely bring it up to my doctor, I know she's not handling that stuff but she could bring it up to however was in charge. I would express how displeased I was (maybe even to a nurse) that your personal information has been given out and mixed up several times, knowing how important HIPPA is these days.

I would personally be hesitant to switch but I love my doctor however if that wasn't the case I would for sure. Just call around and figure out the return policy on your payment, as you did pay up front now and you might not get that back!

Just something to consider. A lot of OBs will only take on a patient up to a certain point and 23 weeks might be past that point for some. So if you do want to switch I would start calling around ASAP.

I would be REALLY unhappy about the service up until this point but I also would have made a stink about it at the time of each mess up along the way. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do at this point about the things they screwed up, and I doubt that even complaining will have a big effect since it just seems like their office is run incredibly poorly.

I would definitely at least complain! What you've mentioned seem like major issues in patient care and confidentiality. If the office manager was able to give me some assurance that things would go smoothly from here on out, then I might stay if I liked my doctor. But if they weren't responsive, then I would definitely switch.

I would totally switch! Luckily, the "mistakes" that your current OB's office has made weren't life-threatening...but what if one of these days they make a mistake that is? They just don't seem organized at all and since we're talking about your health and your baby's health, you need an OB's office that is on TOP OF IT.

Wow, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I would be looking to switch. I think of it as I'm a paying customer, and should be treated as one. You can take your money and your insurance elsewhere where you can get better care. On another note, my doctor's office took 2 weeks to tell me I had a UTI as well! I was upset that it took them so long. Next time I get lab work, I'll be calling to get my results.

I would consider switching. I would bring it up directly with your doctor, though, first -- although it's not the doctor's fault, probably, that's who your point of contact is, and in most cases the doctor is the office manager's ultimate boss.

I'm 23 weeks along and I'm having issues with my OB/GYN's office and am wondering if I should switch. It's getting kind of late in the game though. I like my doctor, but her office just seems like kind of a mess. I choose it because it was attached to the hospital I was planning to deliver at (in the same building), so I thought that might make it easier.

1. They lost my initial screening bloodwork. At my second appointment they asked me why I never went to the lab to complete the screening. When I told them I had completed it 4 weeks ago they went back and found some blood work listed under someone with the same name and a similar birthday (just the month off) that they thought might be mine but weren't sure. So I had to redo all the bloodwork over again.

2. When I went to redo the labwork, they gave me the workorder and I went to the hospital lab. When I got there, the lab informed me that I had been given the wrong workorder....it had someone else's name, DOB, SSN, and lab order on it completely! Seems like a major HIPPA issue.

3. They called me two weeks after one of my appointments to tell me I had a UTI (they usually do the testing right there- not sure why it took two weeks?) and they were calling in a prescription for me. I went to the pharmacy that night and they had no record of the prescription and by that time the office was closed for the weekend and the answering service said they couldn't page the doctor for prescriptions so I had to wait another three days to get antibiotics to clear up the UTI that I've already had for over two weeks.

4. Their billing department is a mess. At my 20 week appt they showed me a summary of what we would owe for all the appointments and labor/delivery. I offered to pay the fee right upfront but they told me they would send monthly bills and when I received the bill I could pay the entire cost instead of just the monthly charges. I went in yesterday and the receptionist treated me like I was a deadbeat and stated very loudly, "You haven't made ANY of your monthly payments!" We haven't gotten a bill for any of them yet! I offered again to pay the full amount upfront instead of doing monthly charges and this time they took the money. I won't be surprised if we still get a bill again. She also stated that I didn't have any information in their system like my emergency contact or insurance information even though I had been going there for for my whole pregnancy and had provided them that info on the first visit.

5. They seem to forget various things. I had to ask for my TDAPP even though I had it listed on my chart, at one appt I was supposed to have an utlrasound to check the status of an ovarian cyst but they forgot to schedule it, and the PA told me she was putting in the lab order for my glucose test and they'd have it up front for me, but when I went up there they didn't have it and I had to wait an extra half an hour while they tried to figure out where it went.

I'm pretty easy going, and I haven't complained at all to the office about any of this yet (who do I complain to? an office manager maybe?) but these issues keep piling up and I'm getting concerned about the quality of care I might be receiving at this office and the hospital. Would you switch this late in the game?
