It would technically effect me, but luckily I never have to work overtime :)

I think universities will find plenty of ways to still pay crappy salaries to post-docs and exempt them from this somehow. I'm not a post doc now but there's no doubt in my mind that the quality of scientific work would dramatically increase if there were some common sense pay increases and allotment for overtime pay.
I made 40k, this was after completing a phd and 2 years of post doc and typically worked 70 hour weeks. Some people stuck it out but a lot of quality people left for higher paying jobs elsewhere or switched fields to get higher pay.

At my first job out of college (I stayed there for 3 years) they worked me so hard. It was a small e-commerce company and I easily worked 50-60 hour weeks making between $32-44K in the time I was there. Now that I have experience working at other companies and now that's not acceptable, I would have totally quit but I didn't know any better. I think I deserved to make overtime pay and feel others in the same type of situation should. The company owners were super rich so they could have easily afforded it.

Won't affect my household at all but I do think it's great. The previous threshold of $23K/year to be working more than 40hours week and not making over time seems crazy to me.

Doesn't affect me, but I work in HR and we have one employee who is affected (he just got promoted to an exempt position last year, so is on the low side of his salary range.) He'll be getting another bump that will be included in his yearly raise so he's right over the limit by the time it takes affect.

I work at a large institution (state university) so it affects A LOT of people. I imagine that they will let every department do what they want, either by converting salaried people to hourly, or raising the salaries of people who make close to the new threshold.

In my specific department there would only be two people affected by this, and I am one of them. I don't work much overtime, but the other person does. I believe that we both have salaries within 2-3k of the threshold, and optimistic me hopes this means we will both get a raise!! I think that the minor inconvenience of raising salaries will greatly outweigh the major inconvenience of having us track our hours and pay overtime.

I'm not sure if I'm for or against it because I don't know what our company is going to do. They are currently doing away with some perks (water cooler, free coffee, soft drink machine), so I can't imagine that they would bump us up to the minimum. I also earn comp time for hours worked over 35 (what we get paid for), so they may cut back on how many of us work overtime for events. We'll see. ETA: I am salaries but make about 8k less than the minimum per year.

My husband is hourly. He regularly works overtime but because his per-hour rate is so high, they just pay straight time. I imagine they will bump them to salaried to get out of it, but he also makes less than the minimum. Especially during bat season, when he often works upwards of 70 hours per week, it's going to be huge for the company. They might also take on less work.

I worked in a job that definitely took advantage of the job market being what it was to require way too much for way too little. So glad to see this going into effect!

Doesn't apply to me, but I think it's a good move.

We live abroad and my husband's company doesn't pay overtime per se, but you can accumulate overtime hours and take up to 5 additional paid vacation days per 6 months (so there's a potential of earning 10 extra paid vacation days per year). I think that's a fair arrangement too!

I think this is fair but it won't affect me. I hope to always make more than the minimum and my employer already compensates overtime with time off or pay and that applies to everyone except executives and sales. I don't work that much extra but it's nice to know I'll be compensated for it.

This would have been awesome in some of my previous roles. I put in long hours and don't feel like I was fairly compensated.

Will you be impacted by the new overtime regulations in the US? How do you think your employer will handle them?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/05/17/overtime-pay-eligible-employees-workers/84504890/

I make more than the new minimum so it won't really change anything for me. I think my work wil likely bump the few FT salary people who aren't over the minimum up. Most of our FT workforce is hourly.
