Will do @ninja, but I think a new vehicle may just be wishful thinking. Definitely having some major sticker shock!

Doing some more research, and I didn't realize that Highlanders had captain seating for the 2nd row. Lots of options.

I have an Acadia that I love (bucket seats) but we've had some techincal problems with it lately. I've been looking at Tahoes and Highlanders!

@ninja: Ooh, I love the Latch and Slide option for the second row in the Pathfinder! Tahoes are solo big, and I don't know how I'd feel about driving one. I'm sure they are a pig on gas, as well. The Pathfinder seems to fix what I don't like about my Sorento. That's definitely a top contender. :)

I would suggest you check out the Nissan Pathfinder. It's easy to access the third row, even with a forward facing car seat installed. (Can you tell that I've been researching that?!). The redesign they did for the 2013 model year is very appealing.

@bunnylovesbear: my SIL/BIL have a new Tahoe that they love and it has two captains hairs in the second row so you can walk in between to the third row. It's a nice set up and we are also looking at those :)

Yeah, we're definitely looking for something with the 3rd row seating. Our Kia has that, but the 3rd row is not convenient to use on a daily basis. You either need to fold down the middle seat (not possible with a second carseat there) or climb through the way back, which I don't see my daughter enjoying very much! So I basically want the minivan setup without it being a minivan!!

@bunnylovesbear: we are also looking to buy something bigger before this LO arrives (we also have a big dog). I'm looking at the Honda Pilot, Audi Q7, or Highlander.

You're probably looking for something that can have a 3rd row seat then? I would've said CRV (as a lot of bees here love the CRV) but I'm not sure if a 5 seater will suit your needs... What about the CX-9, assuming that's closer to your price range vs Toyota Highlander & even Acura MDX?

I love my Toyota highlander. There's quite a bit of room. I think the Honda Pilot is a tad bigger and two of my mom friends love theirs.

So my husband and I are considering purchasing a new vehicle - I currently have a Kia Sorento (that I love) but we will have two kids in carseats plus a 13 year old. My husband jokes that we are going to need a minivan...

Any vehicle recommendations for a family of five plus a giant dog? It's probably important to note that I'm not sold on the idea of a minivan... lol.
