Very normal. I remember feeling like she was constantly eating, because she was. My couch and Netflix subscription got a lot of use in those first few weeks.

I remember these cluster feedings well! I had no idea babies fed so frequently in the early days, but now I know it's completely normal. Draining (literally!!) but normal. :)

Totally normal; hang in there! This period is like the peak of doubting her and yourself. I just kept counting those wet diapers; so no matter what was happening, I just had to tell myself she is fine bc she had all the wet diapers needed. Plus she was gaining every month so you eventually learn not to stress TOO much about it! (Wait who am I midding DD is almost 4 mo and I still stress lol).

Agree with everyone - sounds normal! Logan is 16 weeks and still likes to nurse every 2 hours, whereas Xander could go 3+ at the same age.

Sounds normal to me :) if her poops are yellow and seedy she's getting what she needs. You know something is imbalanced if you see green mucus poops. And every baby is different in their feeding lengths. My older DD would nurse every two hours and take an hour every feeding. She nursed all the time and took her time doing it! DD2 is completely different. Starting really young (like maybe 2/3 weeks?) she became extremely efficient and could empty a boob and be done with a feeding in 10 minutes. In terms of emptying a side there are times that DD2 wants the second side, we start and she finishes without completely emptying. We just start on that side next feeding. So keep up what you're doing!

Sounds normal to me. If you want to make sure she's getting hind milk, start feeding on the same boob you ended with last time.

Sounds normal to me also. She's probably getting more efficient, yes. If she's gaining weight ok and her diapers are good to, it usually means that she's getting what she needs.

I've read that frequent feedings don't mean they aren't getting hind milk, it's not like it turns on and off after a certain amount of time. It's more like when they nurse farther apart. When they nurse frequently, it's good and normal at this age. Still stimulating your supply. http://www.llli.org/faq/foremilk.html

Sounds totally normal to me! As long as she's having lots of diapers and gaining weight try not to worry too much about the particulars. She's telling your body what she needs!

Dd is two weeks old. She was back to birth weight at 10 days and has lots of dirty and wet diapers, so I think she's getting enough to eat.

She was taking an hour plus for each feeding, falling asleep quite a bit. Now she's taking a lot less time (about 20 min) and I can't tell if she's just more efficient or if she's not emptying the boob. She wants to eat pretty much all the time, usually two hours start to start. Sometimes she spits up after frequent feedings, like she's eating too much

So, I guess my question is-how do I know if she's actually emptying and getting the hind milk? Is it normal to eat that frequently if she's getting enough at each feeding?
