We used prefolds as well,, but I hated the newborn sized ones. They were so cute. It was definitely worth while monetarily because our kiddo was tiny and they fit him for almost two months. They fit decently right away. We'll have the newborn rental for 12 weeks and then return them and get our deposit back. It will end up costing around $120 but I figured we'd spend way more than that on disposables and I want to get in the habit of using them before I go back to work. I was worried I wouldn't want to use cloth once I got used to the convenience of disposables but I didn't want to invest a ton of money into newborn diapers. This way I get to try a few different types of diapers and see what works best for him. I ended up just waiting until my LO grew out of newborn diapers, which was two weeks. But now I am questioning that decision - why would I use disposables for several weeks when I am committed to CDing, wouldn't it be better for me to get used to CDing before I went back to work, why not, etc. </p> <p>Doing a bit of research, it seems that most newborn-CDing mommas use pre-folds, Kissaluvs with covers, or the BG AIO newborn size. While I love the cost-effectiveness, pre-folds are never going to happen for us... it was hard enough getting my husband on board with CDing. I think the BG AIOs would be easiest on that front, but people seem to love the Kissaluvs and covers. (Cost between the two seems about the same, although the BG might be slightly less.)</p> <p>Thoughts? Opinions? Advice? How did you handle diapering your newborn? </p>
