We didn't use any NB clothes. LO was about 7.5 lbs when we left the hospital, so 0-3 was a little big, but we just rolled up the sleeves. We only dressed her in sleepers and onesies at that point, so it really didn't matter. She outgrew 0-3 month by 2 months.

I agree, even at over 9 pounds, we still used NB stuff for a few weeks. Does it stink to buy clothes and barely use them, yes, but its kinda the nature of having a baby so find some steals and just get a few things.

The biggest thing with NB clothing is to remember to get comfort stuff. Things to wear around the house and to sleep in. They don't need "outfits".

I put him in NB AND 0-3 right away. The 0-3 I would roll up the cufs and it looked bigger but not too bad.

LO was 8 lbs 13 oz and 19.75" and is just now outgrowing her NB onesies at 10 weeks. I'm glad I had them bc she was swimming in the 0-3 month clothes.

My LO was 8 lbs 13 oz and fit into newborn clothes for just a couple of weeks. But she had reflux and spit up a lot, so we changed her a lot in that couple of weeks, so a lot of clothes were still necessary.

If you don't want to buy a lot of stuff now I promise you you'll be forgetting other things anyway and you'll be sending someone out to get things, you can just add some onesies to the list.

We bought one NB outfit as a coming home outfit and were gifted one other. LO was 7 lbs 7.5 oz at birth and 6 lbs 15 oz at discharge. We went out our first day home and bought two more NB sleepers, thinking that would get us by until she outgrew them. She dirtied both of them that night and ended up in a 3 month sleeper. So we bought 4 more NB sleepers and with a total of 7 we were good. She lived in them round the clock pretty much the first two weeks or so. She outgrew them all by length around 3-3.5 weeks, but she's a very tall baby. But I would say it's so hard to predict, so maybe either buy but don't take the tags off of everything right away, or just wait and see and either make a quick run to the store/send someone to buy NB stuff if you need it.

I haven't had to buy ANY clothing so far, so I don't mind buying...I am just in lazy mode and know I need to get to doing laundry soon. We were given the most in size 3-6, but I still have a ton of 0-3. I guess I will just stock up on some basic stuff to get us through a few weeks just in case. Good to know!

DD was 7lbs 13oz when she was born and was in nb till she was about 4 weeks. We barely had any NB clothing but that worked out fine because she only wore it for a short period and we still put 0-3m on her and it was only slightly big on her. She's now around 10lbs and there is no way she will fit into NB.

LO was born 7 lbs 3 oz and 19.7 inches and she wore NB clothes up until she was a month old at 9 lbs 2 oz and 21 inches. She lived out of Carter's NB side snap shirts and 5 footed sleepers. I also had a few gowns, and other outfits but they weren't as convenient so she hardy wore them.

I'm glad I had NB sizes because 0-3 are HUGE. She can wear them now at 6 weeks, but she's still filling into them, they don't really fit yet.

I only had 2-3 newborn sleepers and 1 nb outfit. i wish I had more because he was in newborn until PAST 8 weeks old! I didn't expect him to be, so I had a larger collection of 0-3 mos, but those clothes were HUGE on him. But he has always been on the smaller side; he is still fitting into some of his 0-3 mos clothes at 5 mos.

I also haven't had LO yet, but I have quite a bit of newborn. I didn't buy much new, a friend was selling her daughter's clothes and I got a ton of clothes for $30!

I have 5-6 kimono shirts, 5 s/s onesies, 2 pairs of pants, 3 little outfits (onesie with matching pants), and 12-15 sleepers (I honestly can't remember). Some are footed, some are not.

I wouldn't have purchased all that if not for the awesome savings..but I know some people who had babies in newborn size for a few months, others only a week. It's so hard to tell! I'd have some on hand and you can always send someone out for more if you need them.

He grew out of NBs almost immediately, but we tried to force him into them after week 1. The shirts fit --still but they are short.

My LO is in the 80-95% for weight and length right now (2.5 months), and fits clothing weirdly. He is in some 0-3s still, and a lot of the 3-6s fit. Every brand fits differently.

Stick with the 4 pieces for now--we got gifted a few NB things at the hospital and then had too many!

I can't vote because butterbean is still baking, but I do have a few NB pieces/layettes. I tried to pay attention to the recommended weight limits for different clothing brands (as you noticed, they vary!), and thought that I should have a few on hand just in case. I think I have half a dozen onsies, some kimono tops and pants (until the umbilical cord falls off) and several footed sleepers.

I am getting a 36 week sono tomorrow so hopefully I will have an "idea" of how big the baby is. I was wondering how many of you out there stocked up on NB sized clothing? Right now I literally have 4 articles of NB sized clothes. It just seems like it varies so much, from some LO's fitting in them for a week, to 2-3 weeks, to a month or more. I don't know how much or what to stock up on in this particular size, and I don't even feel like buying a whole lot at this point either...but I'm sure I won't after I have the baby too!
