@wonderstruck: I used breastmilk, lol! I was in bed and soooo tired.

@LovelyPlum: well we have had a few episodes of projectile vomiting but I have figured out its always been when she wont burp. So hopefully it's all unrelated!

@Pancakes: lol! Everyone says you're more laid back with your second, this kid is keeping my anxiety on point :P

@sorrycharlie: Haha, after your other post, I feel like our first and second DDs are twinsies or something. It must be the time of year. DD2 was SUPER congested the first few months (MONTHS!). I used saline drops multiple times a day and that helped somewhat. A humidifier didn't seem to help all that much but we used one any way. Between that and the swaddle issues and I have always been worried about this kid's breathing!
ETA: I was told to be careful not to suction too much because that can make the nasal passages swell and make the congestion worse.

@sorrycharlie: She had slimy poop and projectile vomiting, too. It just happened to be the congestion that finally tipped us off. I figure it is most likely congestion but wanted to put our experience out there. For whatever reason, I somehow knew that her congestion was a symptom of something bigger- I have no idea why. Some people thought I was nuts, because most babies just get congested for normal reasons. So like I said, pretty sure we are an anomaly

Do you use saline drops or spray before the suction? Just in case everything is all dried up back in there?

@sorrycharlie: That's why I suspect that it's dry air - I think it causes slightly swollen nasal passages or something? My little guy doesn't have boogies either - just sounds like he does!

@LovelyPlum: @keepcalmcarrie: Huh! Good to know. this sounds like congestion but even when I peek or suction her she has no boogies? Haha. Is that normal? And she is otherwise happy - gaining weight, normal poops etc

So we had congestion, and I thought she was getting a cold. It turns out, though, that the congestion was one of the signs of her MSPI.

I don't mean to sound alarmist, just wanted to share our experience

I don't know what time of year your first daughter was born, but I don't remember this with my first born (a March baby) and my second is definitely going through it (a fellow January babe). I think the air in the house is super dry with the heat on... I've given him saline spray and run a humidifier in his rokm, which seems to help. But he's also just a very snorty little guy :)

I googled and it seems normal.. But I don't remember my first daughter doing this! My one month old is fine during the day but at night sounds incredibly congested. When I suction, nothing comes out. She sleeps fine but I can't because im afraid she's going to suffocate or something ridiculous.

Anyone else have this??
