DD was in them for about 5 weeks. We probably could have switched a little earlier but I was trying to use up as many of the Newborn diapers that we'd already opened as I could.

I don't remember how long she was in NB. But when a baby is in between sizes, I think it's just a matter of preference. Do you like the way the size fits? As DD got older, I started to notice a difference in fit: at one point, I preferred a smaller size - I noticed it helped keep things in and we had less blowouts. But as she got older (when she was upright more often), a larger fit worked better for us.

@LindsayInNY: It's so hard to say! Effie has always been bigger and yet wore NB for 6-8 weeks! Worst case, you have some to store for baby #2 (if you so desire! I still have a bunch of 2's because she grew out the day after we bought a new huge pack haha) or you can always try to swap/sell in a local group.

@kjpugs: We're at 4 1/2 weeks and still in them. I'm worried the 88 count from amazon will be a bad idea? But that's basically two weeks worth?

I think like 7 weeks? Honestly, just keep buying small packs at the drugstore because it'll be fitting one day and then NOT AT ALL the next- it's crazy how they move up in a snap at that age!

Maybe about a week, but we could have just started off with size 1. He was 8 pounds 15 ounces at birth, so that's within the size 1 weight range. I didn't buy any newborn diapers for baby #2 who is due in 2 weeks. I expect him to be a larger baby too.

I just ran out of our last N diapers for my 8w/o, 10lb baby last wk. We were using both N & 1 disposables (when out & about, but not everyday since I'm also trying to use G diapers), & I feel like I've had more of a problem with the size 1s being too big (& leaking) for her than the N being too small--though both seem to be the case, despite the overlap??

I've returned unopened diapers that were gifted to Walmart and Target without receipts and used the store credit for other diapers I wanted. we are nearing the end of our second box of N diapers and I am debating on switching as well but leaning towards another smaller N package myself.

@LindsayInNY: I would keep using them if that's the case! Once you get several leaks consider switching. Not sure about ordering a large amount though, I was gifted some newborn diapers so I used them until the leaks got ridiculous they still appeared to fit decent but not as well as you are describing.

Mine is still in them at 4.5 weeks and 9 lbs. She's super lanky and weight has crept on slowly as well. I was told by friends I wouldn't really need newborn diapers but did get one pack to have on hand. I am so glad we did! We tried the 1's after we ran out and they were just way too big so we are sticking with Newborn for the time being. It just depends on your baby, really, but it may be a good idea to at least have a package on hand. You can always swap it out if you don't open it!

@dc yoga bee: Ah interesting. She just had her first blow out yesterday. I figured she just wasn't changed quickly enough. She's in the high 8 lb range now, I don't know exact weight, with skinny little legs. The tape strips things still touch when the diaper is on her. But maybe the large box I just ordered isn't the best idea...
