Sometimes I let my toddler play by himself or watch some TV for a bit so that I can just focus on my 2 month old for a little while. Otherwise some of the things I do are put him in his bouncer or RnP so he is facing me and sing songs, alternating between which kid I'm looking at/doing the hand signals with if it's that type of song, put him on my lap with older brother next to me and read a book, put him on his playmat which always interests my toddler so then we both sit by him and talk to him, etc.

My experience was that being part of a family with an older sibling is actually very stimulating/entertaining for the baby. My DD was 22 months when my DS was born and his favorite thing is to just watch her do things. I was so worried about how I'd entertain him while I did stuff with her, but it's actually easy. He loves watching her eat meals for some reason. I just set him in the bouncy chair, or the Bumbo, now that he's a little older, and he just watches her with amazement.

I feel like this sometimes but I definitely fit in moments with LO2 throughout the day. Definitely not as much attention as DS got tho. Usually first thing in the morning my son is more apt to play on his own. So I'll eat breakfast and she is by my in her bouncer and I talk to her. Also when DS takes his nap, she's usually awake during part of it so i spend time with her then. We also will hang out in her nursery and I'll place her on the floor in front of her mirror and DS will play nearby or sit in my lap and I'm usually giving her attention then. It's hard having to split time between lo's!

LO2 is 2 months old and starting to have more awake time. With LO1, I would try to be actively present when she was awake. Make silly faces, walk her around...etc. now, I feel like I am always running around trying to clean up after LO1, or playing with her, so whenever LO2 is awake, he watches us play or hangs out alone. I feel like I should be directly entertaining (for lack of a better word) him, but I hardly ever have time to just sit with him. Tips, tricks, ideas?? :)
