In that case I rub her back instead of patting as it seems gentler. I burp between sides. He did spitup a lot, but burping really didn't seem to help. He was never fussy or gassy though, in which case I would have put more emphasis on burping. Whenever I'm around MIL and she seems me not burp him, she promptly takes him and says "Here, I'll burp you." If she was really asleep, she actually didn't wake up while I burped her.</p> <p>I always burped her more with a bottle too which is what the LC I saw suggested. She ate faster from a bottle and would spit up a lot if we didn't burp her every few minutes (I think they recommended five minutes).
