Thank you again, HB, for restoring my sanity. My LO is 10 days old, and every hour tonight has been eating as if I haven't fed her in days. I'm exhausted. My DH is exhausted from trying to calm her down without yet another feed. My new-to-nursing boobs are especially unhappy. Thank you for letting me know it's normal...and temporary!

We had a small spurt on day ten, but a huge one on day 13. She ate every hour for eight hours straight. I spent twice the time nursing her that day than I had any day prior. I'm just thankful growth spurts don't last forever.

I think we just went through a spurt. Now she's back on 2.5-3 hr stretches.

Yup. It was just before she hit 2 weeks. See if LO will eat more at a feeding. Spurts usually last a few days and then they'll settle back into their routine.

I don't know if it's a growth spurt, but my LO (she is almost 5 months now) went through several phases of more frequent feedings and/or cluster feedings. After a few days (I don't remember the cluster feedings lasting longer than a week), her eating patterns would settle back down to a much more predictable 2.5-3 hour time span.

Did your newbie go through a growth spurt around 10 days? Our nurse told us to expect this and that he would be super hungry. The past few feedings he has fed until full but won't settle down and sleep after like he normally does. The past 2 or 3 times I've fed him again about an hour later (usually go about 2.5 in between feedings) and he will finally settle down and rest. he's 9 days old - does this sound like a growth spurt?

How long do they usually last and after they are over did your LO go back to longer stretches between feedings?
