Maybe a hot water bottle in the bassinett to warm it up before he goes in could help? Or putting a toy on is tummy so he feels pressure there after being laid on you?

@boiledpnut: the vibrating chair saved our lives when M was a newborn. She LOVED that thing and slept in it for all of her naps her first 3 months. If we needed a break, we would just put her in it and bounce it with our foot. Zzzzzz. It keeps them pretty upright, too. You can get a nice Fisher Price one for about $35/$40.

@London Mama: he's only a week old, so I feel bad complaining. I'm just desperate for sleep and am worried about what we're going to do when DH goes back to work next week.

How old is he? If he's very little he might just want to be close to you. He's spent 9 months inside you and now he's put down in a cold, large bed by himself and it sounds like he doesn't like it. It might well be reflux but it might also be as simple as him needing you for security and comfort.

He is swaddled and he won't be quiet in the swing for more than about five minutes. I told DH we needed a vibrating seat, so he's gonna get one tomorrow.

I totally posted a similar thread yesterday. However, our baby is older, and I think she's freaking out for totally different reasons (i.e. she wants to move around and play, and not be stuck on her back). Maybe your baby would like to nap in a swing? My daughter still sleeps best in bed with me even at 9 months. She sleeps in her crib just fine mostly, but nothing is better than sleeping in bed with mama. Sigh.

@boiledpnut: is he swaddled? A wouldn't sleep unless on me when she was first born either (still won't for naps) but swaddling solved overnight...

Nothing is working. He won't sleep unless he's on one of us. We've tried back, side, stomach, elevated, in the swing. Nothing. I don't know what I'm going to do when DH goes back to work since I'm efb and he can't hills him all night. :/

We elevated the head of his bassinet and he's still screaming, but it takes longer for him to start now. I think we have to teach him to sleep there at this point since he's so used to sleeping on us.

At 4w, I asked my doc if we could sleep LO on her side, we roll up receiving blankets and she's slept on her side since! She is 10w now, and we roll her 'back' blanket more loosely and she eventually winds up on her back or atleast halfway there! It saved our sanity! No reflux or anything, just hated being on her back.

Yup sounds like reflux to me. My LO is the opposite where she doesn't fuss if she lies on her back but she spits up like crazy! We have been having her sleep in her rock n' play and it's been a life saver.

I also thought reflux. There's such a thing as silent reflux where the baby doesn't spit up. Couldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it, maybe they have some advice for you. My LO's crib was elevated for a long time, we put a towel under it.

Yes, I've been doing some reading and I think y'all might be right. He sleeps on his back just fine if he's on us. It's when he lays flat that he flips out. Gonna try elevating the head of his bassinet and see how that goes. We do have an appt with his ped on Monday, so maybe he can help as well.

The first thing that came to mind was reflux as well. Maybe try to slightly elevate her head? We used a fluffy baby blanket folded in thirds, but I've heard of ppl lifting the whole crib on one side (on books) if you don't feel comfortable with putting anything inside her crib.

I'm not sure what those are. :/ He eats really well and rarely spits up. He's not very gassy (is that what you mean by bad wind?). He burps well during and after feedings.

It doesn't matter if it's for diaper changes or sleep. After about a minute, he's screaming his head off. DH and have have been taking shifts because the only way the baby will sleep is on one of us. Any advice on how to get him to sleep on his back on alone? I'm at my wits end. :(
