@marriedandlovingit: wow! Is that before or after a feedin? The only time I got a decent amount is that night after the wedding we went to when I hadn't nurse or 6 hrs. I Pumped (not to empty) and got 4oz.
I feel like I have more at night but afraid to pumP at night then she won't have enough at nighttime feedings. :(

@regberadaisy: Don't worry! I am not building a stash either. I used up the last of the pumped milk earlier today. I have no plans to pump today seeing how he is constantly feeding. If I pump in the AM, I will usually get 5-6 oz from both. Any other time? A couple of oz if I am lucky.

@chopsuey119: Sounds like I am in for a couple months of clustering lol.

My LO is a total cluster feeder sometimes not even during a growth spurt. She's also 3 weeks old.
How are you able to have that mic pumped milk stored? I'm jealous? I've tried to pump 3 times. Once I barely got drops, the next 1.5 oz the next .5 oz. :(

Don't know how I'm going to build a stash for going back to work. :(

@marriedandlovingit: it lasted a good month or 2? Took a while for her to nurse efficiently

@chopsuey119: It is the strangest thing. It's been going on for 2 weeks, and I cannot wait for it to end! How long did it last with your lo?

Yes! Cluster feeding. It's annoying and you start to feel like a cow, but it's normal. It definitely helped increase my supply.

@marriedandlovingit: It's called cluster feeding and they usually do it during growth spurts. It can be intense, but good for supply!

@mrsjazz: Not sure. When he has a full feeding of a bottle of pumped milk (typically 3.5 oz), he seems to be satisfier. It is when I bf that this problem exists at times.

@Mrs. Bee: Thank you! That is also another thing I am facing today! He wants to eat constantly today. He usually will nap for 2-3 hrs during the day, but today is going maybe half an hr to an hour before he starts to fuss for another feed. Is this cluster feeding?

I can't wait for both of us to get this nursing thing down!

Could he also be going through a growth spurt? My LO would feed for 15-40 minutes and then feed again in the next hour--sometimes this would continue for 5 hours in a row. This lasted for about 4-5 days and at her next appointment she had gained 10 oz. (in one week).

It took much longer than 3 weeks for us to really master breastfeeding to the point where Olive was satisfied for at least 3 hours. I think it's just practice -- they do become much more efficient nursers over time. Now Olive typically goes 3 hours, and sometimes even up to 4 between nursing sessions. When she was that age, she'd often get hungry after an hour even though I nursed for like an hour!

I have a 3 week old son, and for the past few weeks he will appears to still be hungry after his feeds. I usually will give him an ounce of expressed milk in a bottle which seems to do the trick. Has anyone else encountered this and is there a solution? Thanks in advance!
