I looked into newborn pics a couple weeks ago and most photographers wanted over $1000 for the images. We didn't want to spend more than $500, I finally got a recommendation from FB for someone to do the shoot for $500 with 15 or so images. I'm also in a large metro area and our photographer offers a package of 3 sessions in the first year (we're using one for maternity), you get all the digital images plus an 11x14 print from each session, and each session is around $450.
