Same as@Beyond2: except we didn't use white noise. She slept during the day where we were, no swaddle & we didn't make any effort to be quieter....at night she slept in her bassinet in our room (with the fan going) & swaddled. She was never really confused though....

My LO woke every hour at then too. There are growth spurts at 10 days, 3 weeks and 6 weeks, which just messed up her sleep. I did have her sleep in the living room during the day and dark room at night. And didn't talk to her at wakeups at night.

By 2m she had it figured out. My midwife told me to feed her as often as I could during the day (almost every 2-2.5hrs, even waking her) so she could get her calories in during the day. Once I did that she started having 4+ hour stretches at night and then right before two months she would sleep 6 solid hours at night.

I hope it works out for you soon! I can't remember exactly, but I know that by the time she was a month old, she was sleeping 3 hour stretches at night, which helped me get some sleep. By three months her night time stretches were much longer, and day time naps were what you'd expect.

Gosh, I can't remember! I guess that's a good sign? I found that usually putting them on a good schedule and routine from day 1 is good practice. Both of my boys didn't give me too much trouble the first few months except that they needed to be rocked to sleep. Hang in there... it usually does get better. Stick with a schedule and routine that works for everyone who is caring for your LO. Oh, and swaddling!

We always had DS nap in bright rooms during the day, unswaddled and at night in the dark, swaddled with white noise to try to "teach" the difference between day and night. It took a few weeks to work but eventually he got it, although he still woke 2-3 times a night for a while :-/

DS2 is 2 and a half weeks old and sleeps 2 and 3 hour stretches during the day, then sleeps only an hour at a time at night. I can't "sleep when the baby sleeps" because I have a 3 yr old at home. When do babies get their days amd nights straightened out and is there anything I can do to help speed up the process?
