My LO was on Prilosec until she was 13 months old & we tried everything. I tried diets when breastfeeding & it was too much pressure for me so we switched to formula. Gerber Good Start then Alimentum exclusively from 5+ months on. It was gentler on her stomach then my milk was.

My LO was intolerant to dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, nuts and shellfish so I cut all those things out of my diet and she did great! 10 days seems really early to go on medicine unless there are serious issues with weight gain. My doctor was very adamant about not using medicine until all other options had been considered, and even then he only prescribes medicine with the baby is not gaining any weight and/or is inconsalbe ALL the time.

I did! I cut dairy and grains, and we started Zantac when he was about two weeks old. We switched to Prilosec for a while, then back to Zantac. Wearing him in a carrier was a LIFESAVER. Being upright and tummy to tummy with one of us seemed to help him so much.

Hang in there! You are doing a great job with your baby girl

M was put on Zantac for reflux, which I thought helped a little, and was then diagnosed with MSPI. Her colic-like symptoms were MUCH better after we eliminated dairy and soy, but then I could see that she was still having painful reflux. We switched her to Prilosec and that seemed to really eliminate the reflux symptoms. She was off the meds by 7 or 8 months and doing well.

Sorry that you're going through this with your LO! It's so hard to see your baby having any discomfort :(

@MrsH: my LO was sensitive to all dairy (but not soy). once I cut all milk, butter in baked goods, etc. his (mild) reflux was gone.

This might sould weird by my eye doctor kids had this and for some reason she talked about it a lot when she was going through it. She got an incline pillow and she did home remedies ... I forgot what she used but she threw away the precribe medcine and did water and vingar (? - she googled it so you might want to do that) and that worked wonders for her. I think she just wanted to tell everyone about her experience :). Good luck!

Does anyone have experience with a newborn with GERD or painful reflux?

Dr put LO on baby Zantac today. (She is 10 days old). We are already keeping her upright/inclined as much as possible, trying not to bounce her, etc.

Does anyone have any other helpful tips? Is there something I can do with my diet to help her?
