@anonysquire: A newborn should be seen if they have teeth at birth. A professional should be the only ones to evaluate it (dentist, pediatrician). Could/maybe/might is too speculative when it could mean choking. Also, shudder at the biting! So horrible. Sorry for your boobs! :)

Idk, we took zuma to the dentist when she was 3or4 months old and he said they were fine. And I'm sure in the middle of the night when your 2 month old is biting your nipple, you will know if there is a root or not. Those suckerS are there to stay!

Our pediatrician recommends having them removed, because they are a choking hazard. They will most likely fall out. She definitely needs to consult her ped.

I would check them for mobility because @anonysquire: is right. Sometimes they can have no root and be an aspiration risk. If they're pretty stable then they should be fine. Sometimes they are the regular baby teeth and sometimes they are supernumery aka extra teeth!

She's probablY nervous because sometimes the teeth they are born with have no roots so they do end up falling out.

Natal teeth were featured on an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent once!! (The source for most of my legal and medical knowledge.)

Apparently, Napoleon had natal teeth... in some cultures, it's considered a sign of great potential and success!

I think anonysquire's daughter was born with a tooth.
Totally normal, though I imagine nursing a newborn with teeth would be an experience. :meh:

My friend has twins and they were both born with teeth! Apparently they see about 10 babies a year in the hospital here.

My Nephew was just born last week with his two bottom teeth broken through. Is that crazy or what?! SIL is worried about him swallowing it. I told her to call her ped...anyone have any experience in this area?
