@Freckles: Definitely visit someplace else! Newport is cute but not much to do there. Either Boston or else Cape Cod would be a nice choice (both are a similar distance from Newport). In Boston with a 3 year old and baby, I'd recommend the Children's Museum, Aquarium, Science Museum, Public Garden with swan boats, or the duck boat tour. Depending on when you come, there are usually fun festivals or concerts happening around town too. At the cape, you could be more low-key and check out the beaches and the seaside towns, maybe do a whale watch if you think your 3 year old would enjoy it. We were there with our LO last year when she was 7 months and did several easy nature walks (one we liked alot was the Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary) and also checked out Provincetown. Good luck and have fun!

@Freckles: Newport is beautiful, but I don't think you need to spend a week there. It's a good long weekend trip IMO. There are so many other great places nearby Boston being one of them. I would suggest spending 3 days somewhere else.

DH has a conference in Newport, RI this summer and we decided to make a family trip out of it and stay in the area for 1 week. Would you stay in Newport the whole week, or go somewhere else for the other 3 days? Boston or somewhere else in RI? We will be with both kids (3 yrs old and 7 mos old).

Also, any recommendations?
