@Tanjowen: I meant to mention... I think the main thing with kids is just to foster that love of reading/books! If they love books and reading, then they will have a strong desire to learn how to read and that will help more than anything else, I think!!

@Tanjowen: The Endless Alphabet and Endless Wordplay apps were huge for my kids to make the transition for letters of the alphabet -> word sounds!

@T.H.O.U.: He does sound them out...he still can't do W, T, or L, which I think are hard letters to form. I like your idea of asking him what letter does the word start with!

Usually after recognizing letters is making all the letter sounds. Can he do that? With my daughter we are now starting with saying a word (Dog) and saying what letter does that start with (she sounds it out Ddddd and recognizes it's a D)

My LO adores books and has learned all his letters by sight. What can I do next to aid in his forming letters into words and starting him down the path of reading? Any great resources out there that have worked for anyone? I had the thought of purchasing flash cards in hopes that might be a good step.

He's turning 2 this month. I don't expect him to read for quite some time, but looking for ways to move beyond his being able to tell me his letters.
