We've moved around so much that we make an excellent moving team. It was really frustrating for me that with this last move I was sidelined (6 months pregnant). We rented a U-Haul and invited all our friends to come help! It went REALLY quick because we had so many people helping us out. Then we grilled up some burgers and hotdogs and served everyone drinks for helping us out. It was a lot of fun! Like pp mentioned, we box everything up then have friends and family help us load up and unload at the new place in exchange for food.
