We were pretty adamant about not nick naming Cecilia right away to see what suited her personality best. We had lots of options from the dreaded cee cee to ceci (said sess-ee) to CJ to Ceil... But in the end she nicknamed herself Lala, which is just perfect for her toddler self... And which we never would have come up with ourselves. We just had to constantly redirect people not to use a nickname.

I knew a girl name Olivia and her family called her Livvie/Livvy it was cute.

We actually chose my sons' name BECAUSE of the nickname. I LOVED the name Cobi, but my husband thought it was too short to be his first name. So we named him Jacobi, and 90% of the time we call him Cobi. The fun thing about his name is that there are many nicknames, cutesy, yes, but they're fun for now. I call him Co-Co-Bee. And my friend calls him Co-Co-Puff.

Before lo was born everyone would ask if we'll call her rose or rosie. I always said we'd just wait to see what she looks like. She's a rosie. I usually call her rosie poo.

I have been calling Grayson Gray because I love that nickname. My husband has been annoying me greatly by calling her Sonny. Sonny? :(

I love the nicknames you proposed for Olive! How cute! :)

We call DD by her given name but I always thought as a nickname Evie would be cute (her name is Evelyn). There are a few people who call her that which doesn't bother me but DH corrects them.

My niece is Olivia but goes by Livvie.

nooope. I don't really get the deciding on a nickname before baby is here honestly? I think of nicknames as something that just comes from her? If that makes sense? Like our nieces have tons of nicknames! And they usually came from how they pronounced their name or how siblings pronounced it etc. Or something silly they did.

We did not have any nicknames in mind before LO was born. Her name is Clara and we were fine not having a nickname but now that she's here we see how silly and funny she is so we call her lots if silly names...and now we have been shortening her name to Clary...just when we talk to her not when we refer to her or talk to others about her...we never would have thought we would call her that but it suits her little personality. I say go with calling her whatever feels natural - if Livvy sounds right or Ollie sounds right when you are talking to her then it's the right nickname :)

I don't have a name yet, nevermind a nickname! But in your case, when I hear "ollie", it makes me think of short for "Oliver", so i wouldn't recommend for your little girl. I like "Liv" though!

I have a friend named Olivia and we all call her Liv - always have. She uses her full name professionally but among her social circle, she is known as Liv.

We didn't decide on a name until Olive was born so we didn't really discuss nicknames. Now we are trying to decide if we should try to give her one or just see what happens. Liv? Livvie? Ollie?

My husband says she doesn't need one but I think we should give her one before someone (I'm looking at you, grandparents!) starts calling her something else. She's 4 months old now.

Do you have an "official" nickname for your LO? Did you choose one before s/he was born?
