@Mrs Green Grass: good point! We are getting very helpful hints and tips from the nurses. I have to stay positive, too. Thanks!

Yeah, I keep wanting to ask how that baby did overnight but I doubt they can tell me anything.

@bluestriped bee: That must have been a scary thing to witness. Glad to hear the babies are doing well, and I'm sure you can't wait till they're home!

My babe is well out of the NICU, by don't judge yourself for any of the weirdness of having your babies live in a different place than you. Post-partum emotions are nuts. It's true that they are getting great care and you need to take care of yourself too. I liked to look at the positives (because what else can you do?). When your babies come home, you will already "know" them which is really cool. You also get one on one training about how to take care of them.

There was a NICU code one time when I was there and it really shook me...

How are YOU feeling? Your SO/DH/DW?
--I'm feeling okay. Some moments I sorta forget that we are parents because our babies aren't home yet. I kinda feel awful about it. I'm not really that emotional about it, though. Like I should be more upset that they aren't home yet. Maybe because I know they are taken care of and they don't have many (if any) severe medical issues at this moment. I am using a preemie diary to keep track of our daily visits and thoughts so I'm emotionally taking care of that by journaling. Though, maybe I should be holding them instead of writing in the journal. They are gaining weight, both (twins) were on room air within a few days of being born. Only baby girl needed a CPAP. Both are eating (sucking, swallow and breathing at the same time) and taking bottle. Baby boy was able to regulate his temp so he was able to wear clothes in the isolette. Baby girl just started wearing clothes a few days ago. Baby boy was moved into an open air bassinet. He was moved in one late last week but they moved him back into the isolette because they think he was trying a little hard to stay warm. They put him back in the isolette so he can put in some more weight (more fat). One nurse said that baby boy will be in the hospital for another 2 weeks to get him to the point of taking his full feeds by bottle or breast. Baby girl is about a week or two behind.
DH is doing the same as me. We were in our room when we heard alarms going off and our nurse rushed out of our room because she was on the code team. When we were leaving we asked if everything was okay and asked her what code pink was. She said that's what happens when a baby stops breathing. She said the baby was born not breathing. Makes my heart sad for the baby and the baby's parents. 😭 Thinking of them tonight. 🙏 While the nurses were rushing around we heard that the baby had to be intubated. :(

How is your baby (or babies) doing?
--See above

When were they born? Or what caused them to be sent to the nicu?
--My babies were born at 34 weeks after baby girl's sac ruptured at 28 weeks. Her brother is doing better than she is but I think she is only slightly behind.

What milestone/ goal are you hoping they get to next?
--That they continue to eat and gain weight and can regulate their body temp. They have been on track with steadily gaining weight so that's not an issue. They both need to work on getting enough strength to bottle feed or breast feed the full amount and not to rely on being tube fed. Baby boy is taking about 47% of his feed by bottle and baby girl is at 37%.

Hopes? Concerns?
-- See above

I am so happy to see how different and similar they are. Love seeing DH interact with them. He definitely has the nurturing gene more than I do. So glad that he is totally excited and invested (?) in being a SAHD. Babies are only 10 days old I know he will be such a great father and I won't have any doubts in leaving them when I have to go back to work in December.
