@Revel: I left a bottle of milk when I had my first overnight but LO decided to STTN that night. I guess she couldn't smell me so there was no reason to get up.

@Revel: yeah, that will probably happen, but your SO or other caregiver will figure out something that works to calm her down and get her back to bed! it's hard not knowing, but you won't have to deal with it then.

@birdofafeather: @jetsa: Thanks! I'm sure that will work fine, and it's possible she'll night wean in the interim anyways. I'm probably more concerned that she gets upset if anyone but me goes in at night, so not sure how she'll react, but the milk cup probably isn't going to solve that problem anyways...

I'd also just leave a cup of milk. :)

@Revel: we do almond milk, but yeah, that's exactly what i did! straw cup with almond milk replaced any nursing sessions needed. we night weaned at 12.5 months, but there were a few MOTN sessions here and there and she did milk in a cup just fine. once we night weaned, she STTN mostly, but it took her a couple months until she STTN if i wasn't there to nurse her before bedtime. now we only have a night time nursing session and if i'm not there, she sleeps fine with just a replacement of milk in a cup!

i got a little engorged the first couple times, but now it's totally fine for me to skip a session! so freeing!

Looking for some ideas from anyone who's been in this situation. .. my 13 month old still nurses at least once a night. We're done with bottles and I don't pump anymore. We switched straight from pumped milk bottles to straw cups of WCM at one year.

I'll have a few occasions in the next few months where I won't be there to nurse at night, so would you just leave a straw cup of cow milk? Bring back a bottle of cow milk? Something else entirely?
