@Smurfette: YAY for 8 hours! Hppy Mother's Day! K went over 8 hours on Friday night and barely wanted to eat at all last night.

IDK how long it takes your body to adjust, but this morning I really couldn't handle the engorgement on one side (since I only feed from one side each session) - it had been over 8 hours. I finally got up to pump and got almost 4 oz. out of one side!!!

That's wonderful! The engorgement definitely got better for me. For a long time I would leak a lot overnight (leak through the breast pads), but even that has gotten better over time. One thing that helped me is pumping right before I go to bed - I can get 4-6 oz that way, and that's actually what started my freezer stash!

@Smurfette: Yay for your LO! That is an awesome Mother's Day gift!

I hear that engorgement lessens over time as baby STTN more regularly. My DD has been sleeping in 6-8 hour stretches at night and I wake up covered in milk. When it gets uncomfortable I hand express a little bit and that seems to help.

@cheert16: I checked on her last night too since hadn't slept that long before. Then I was afraid I woke her up but she went back to sleep. I hope R keeps it up!

@blackbird: I fed her at 530, just on the right and she was out. Then woke back up for the day, so I went ahead and pumped and got 3 ozs on each side which I never get. Score!

@Smurfette: it was surprise when I woke up at 430 am and he was still sleeping- I jumped outta bed to make sure he was still breathing. Then he did it again the next night- it's been a week- so I am hoping it sticks! We turned on a fan and I think the noise helps him sleep!

I pump, but once I dropped my night pumpings, I woke up wet a few times and now I don't anymore. Yet, first thing in the am, I now pump the total or greater of all my previous night pumpings. So. Weird. I do have to stay on the pump longer in the AM but I'll take it!

When my LO started sttn last week I woke up with rocks on my chest, now I just set am alarm to wake up in the middle of the night to pump. It sucks, but I get so much extra milk I think I might be able to start a freezer stash!

@Smurfette: I agree! Sorry DH isn't feeling well. I can hear A grunting in the other room but I'm hiding in the nursery since I'd rather go back to bed and have my husband get up with him. lol, is that bad? ;)

@aprk: She only went back to sleep for 30 mins and since DH isn't feeling good I am up with her. Good though, forced me to pump. But really I should be the one still sleeping, it's Mother's Day! Glad you got 5 hours.

A slept five hours last night which was glorious and I woke up with the same problem. He only wanted one side though so I just pumped the other. Probably not helping the "regulate to the baby" situation, but, oh well!

i think most do, mine never did. i wake up engorged every morning. which is why i'm up at 6:30 pumping after feeding baby instead of going back to sleep immediately. and yay for 8 hours of sleep!!

Happy Mothers Day to me, R just slept for almost 8 hours!!! Of course I didn't sleep that whole time thanks to bathroom trips and my boobs. I finally hand expressed some out at 330, cause I didn't want to pump cause I was sure she would wake up soon. Then I did again at 5. She made one little noise and I grabbed her so she could nurse.

Fingers crossed, R keeps it up. Cause I would really like to take advantage of it and sleep better. But these rocks are to uncomfortable to do so! And I don't like waking up covered in milk.

So my question is does my body learn to adjust for these longer stretches! She nurses before bed, and we usually go to bed right then too.
