When I searched online, they had recalled all their Circo ones earlier this year as a fire hazard, so I went with this one instead. It definitely wouldn't be too bright, although maybe not bright enough depending on how particular your toddler is about seeing his books. It's bright enough to see well when fully charged, but not nearly as bright as a lamp. It's shaped like a mushroom. I don't think the exact one is available anymore, but I've seen others. At our old house we left his lamp on at night (he likes to look at his books before falling asleep) but in his new room it's too bright because of the room configuration. </p> <p>What night light so you use or suggest that could give just enough light to see? We have small wall plug-ins but they don't give off much light. </p>
