@macintosh: My son wakes up early when sick or teething but generally always reverts back to his normal wake up time once he's better, so I'd say there is hope that it's temporary!

Thanks all! It would be great if these early wake-ups are just temporary, but I'll just have to wait and see.

This is a slightly different topic, but bedtime last night was awful due to his teething. He fought sleep for 1.5 hours, crying and throwing his wubbanub over and over. I gave up on going in to pick it up and he eventually cried himself to sleep. In the morning I discovered he had thrown up on himself. I felt so bad for him!

My LO has pretty much always slept 11-12 hours at night and is currently 15 mo old. She's been on 1 nap since 12 months though from
1-2.5 hours (really variable). Sometimes she has early wake ups but it usually only lasts a week or two.i wouldnt worry too much about it.

That sounds pretty normal, or at least within the range for normal sleep needs. You may find you need to put him to bed a little earlier (or not, if it doesn't work for your family), especially when you eventually go down to one nap.

If he's happy, I'd leave him. DD has always had low sleep needs; sleeping 9.5-10.5 hours overnight and when she went down to 1 nap at 15 mo she was only doing like 1.5 hrs max.

At 14 months DD was on 1 nap 90% of the time and still slept only 7:30-6 at night! Her 1 nap was and is only 1-1.5 hrs

DS is in another leap and he's getting molars, yikes. He used to sleep til about 7:30, but for the past few days he's been waking at 6:30 am. He's only sleeping about 10 hours per night now. Is that enough? He still has 2 naps most days and he's definitely tired for the first one when he's up so early.
