@castilrm: I had a retained placenta with my first! Omg it was terrible but I didn’t need any follow up. I got pregnant with my second without much of a period in between the two and since I’ve had her, my cycles are super short, too! 23-26 days. I also have wondered if it’s my comforter. It’s a newer one so maybe it’s causing a problem. I always slept without anything on until I had my kids. It kills me to sleep in clothes, but I still don’t sleep in much. I’ll start making notes when the night sweats happen. Hope we all can figure it out.

I went through a phase of getting them super bad a year or so ago. I never figured out what triggered them but I’d wake up completely drenched almost dripping wet every single night. I still get them a few nights a month but not every night. I am also a very hot sleeper and it seems like one set of sheets we have is much cooler than another. We also have a foam top bed which doesn’t help. I just try to wear as little as possible and don’t use a ton of blankets!

Thanks all! I appreciate the other ideas. I’ve always been a “hot” sleeper - even in winter, I can’t really wear anything more than shorts and a tank, and I usually have to toss off my comforter at some point in the night, so I wonder if it’s that natural tendency plus hormonal changes before/during my period. I have a short cycle and I feel like my body has been out of whack since my second baby. I had a D&C for a retained placenta a week or so after having her, and that caused some uterine scarring that led to irregular periods for a while and now short cycles, so it may all be tied together. I’ll bring it up at my next annual exam with my OB but ugh, hate dealing with it. I mentioned it to my GP but since I didn’t have other symptoms and it seemed usually related to my period, she didn’t seemed concerned. Obviously anxiety is quite high these days, so it’s possible this is another weird way my body expresses stress.

I overheat like crazy when using polyester or other synthetic bed covers. I can only do cotton, in any of the layers, jammies, sheet, blanket, quilt otherwise I roast

Do you have a very well rounded diet or take a multi vitamin? Wonder about a deficiency of some sort.

Oh God night sweats are THE WORST! I started getting them after I had the flu. I think it’s hormonal too, because now it seems to come before my period but also, I think, related to my duvet being too heavy because it was only in the winter. I haven’t had them in a while (knock wood), and I think it was due to switching sheets and the duvet.

I had night sweats for a month after I had my twins, so mine were hormone related. I haven’t had any since, and they are 11 months old.

I got major night sweats right after having my first daughter. I was mid-30s then. I figured it was a hormonal thing, but I had never heard anyone else mention it before. Now, 4 years later and after having another child 2 years ago, I still get sporadic night sweats. I have no clue about it and haven't ever looked into. But I'm interested to hear what everyone else has to say about it!

@JennyPenny: thought about that! But I actually have been drinking less since quarantine (lot less happy hours and dinners out), and my diet hasn’t changed much. But I’ll definitely flag it esp if it coincides with any acid reflux or indigestion, which I get occasionally.

This happens to me occasionally if I've had a dinner that involved a lot of meat, salt, or alcohol. I'm not sure which specifically it is, or maybe it's a combo of all of them. Have you looked for a pattern in what you eat the night before?

Hi all! So the title says it all - I’ve been dealing with intermittent night sweats for years, but it definitely got worse after having my second kid three years ago. It’s not nightly, and seems to be t the worst around the time of my period, which I imagine is hormonal, but I get them at random times occasionally as well. I’m only in my late 30s, so I don’t think I’m menopausal, but of course I’m freaked out because cancer always pops up as a possible cause when you Google it. I don’t have any of the other “red flag” symptoms like fevers or fatigue, and I recently had a CBC blood test (for an unrelated issue) and that was fine. I also my thyroid checked a year or so ago, and blood sugars, and that didn’t flag any issues. I’m not on any meds which would cause it. Anyone else out there dealing with unexplained night sweats? How have you dealt with it?
