@NovBaby1112: @sslm: @Applesandbananas: I've wondered about having him go in... right now she gets really worked up if he goes in, I guess because she wants me and nursing, but maybe it's worth it for a few days, and solves the problem of her potentially hurting herself in the crib.

@Mrs. Lion: Good idea about the water. I was worried about getting her used to the bottle instead of nursing, but I guess the water is pretty low reward.

I've not night weaned but my friend had luck with sending in her DH with a bottle of cow's milk. Her LO decided two days in that waking up wasn't really necessary.

Could you try sending your DH in at night when LO wakes? Have your DH get LO back to sleep without nursing, and hopefully after a few nights of this the night time nursing habit might get broken.

We had already weaned from breastfeeding but lo was still waking up around 2am for a bottle until he turned 1. I could tell he didnt really need it any more, so i started offering a little less and then switched to just offering the paci. If he got mad at the paci and still wanted something else i offered a bottle with water. He would take a sip or two and then take the paci and go back to sleep. Once we did that for 2-3 nights we never went back.

If you think lo is ready and lo takes bottles, maybe you could try offering a bottle and not the breast during those feedings?

Looking for some advice about at least partial night weaning my 14 month old. She puts herself to sleep fine but wakes indiscriminately - she sometimes will wake as early as 10:30pm, sometimes as late as 3am. We try to let her go back but at this age if she doesn't go back in about ten minutes she REALLY escalates (like to banging her head on the crib) so I don't know if that's the right solution.

I'd like to push nursing to just once at night at 3am or later, because if she makes it that long to nurse she usually only has the one wakeup. Gradual methods like shortening the time of nursing a la Troublesome Tots haven't really worked with her in the past.

Anyone have any insight or experience?
