@Shimmer: I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 18 months ago and I had nightmares for months after. This is all so recent for you, of course you will still be experiencing nightmares - when you are asleep, that's when your mind processes how you're feeling. Counselling will help but the biggest healer really is time, as much as I hate to say that.

When I lost my mom I had horrible nightmares. I was also her primary caregiver and made decisions and it takes a long time for those feelings to subside. Counselling defiantly helped. I also found that reading a happy "mindless" book or show before bed helped to keep my mind in a happier place. Strangely enough having a nightlight in the hall helped me as well, that way if I woke up unexpectantly I had a better idea of where I was. Also, informing my husband of the situation helped so I could talk about my fears, and he could console me if I was in the middle of a nightmare or when I woke up. I'm so sorry for your loss, if you ever need to talk feel free to PM me.

@Shimmer: I am so sorry for your loss. Therapy is what I was going to suggest, but you are already doing that. The only other thing that comes to mind for me is exercising before bed so that you are really tired when you go to sleep. I always find that on nights where I'm really wiped out, I sleep more heavily and dream less. Doing something like going for a jog or yoga (yoga would be my preference) before bed might help.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Maybe some type of visualization meditation would be helpful? Something to focus on as you go to sleep.

Thank you <3 I am in therapy and will be starting a grief support group within the next few weeks. I have dreams doubting my decisions for my mom (I made all her healthcare decisions) even though everyone told me that I did the right thing. I'm so sorry for your loss as well.

I'm so sorry. Have you considered therapy? It helped me process a lot of things when my brother died. It took awhile for the weird dreams to go away, and I still get them sometimes :( I'm so sorry for your loss

Any special remedies for nightmares for me? I've been having nightmares since I lost my mom last month and I am afraid to go to sleep sometimes.
