@walnutems: I hear ya! I was scared of the chiropractor, too, but it turns out I needed it pretty badly. I love my massages but chiropractor ended up being pretty affordable since most of it was covered by insurance!

I totally feel your pain. A stretching regime similar to this has helped me. http://orthoinfo.org/PDFs/Rehab_Hip_3.pdf

I ended up with pgp when I slipped into an almost horizontal split at 5mth pregnant. eek!

What helped was seeing the chiro AND he had me do a few exercises at home.

Pelvic tilts while on my back actually helped a TON! I did 10 holding each for 10 seconds. And he had DH pull on my leg while laying on my back at a slight angle in (I would ask for instructions from the chiro) and that helped tons too.

Hope you can figure out something that will work for you!

I had crying in the night pain around that time. Maybe try acupuncture? It's really not painful at all...it's relaxing.

i had horrible horrible hip pain at night while pregnant. it was awful, i could barely sleep some nights. i did some research and bought a foam mattress topper like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/DreamDNA-Density-Memory-Foam-Mattress/dp/B00CGMBDU6/ref=sr_1_1?s=bedbath&ie=UTF8&qid=1375366005&sr=1-1&keywords=foam+mattress+queen

it helped soooo much!!! seriously well worth it! you just put it over your mattress and it takes so much pressure/weight off your hips. it felt like i was sleeping on a cloud.

@walnutems: I was scared of the chiropractor, too. I'd never been to one before pregnancy. But it wasn't painful at all!! I mean,literally...no discomfort or anything strange. My chiropractor was a dad of two kids and super knowledgable about pregnancy...and was also just a nice guy telling me I looked small for how far alone I was (haha, right), how I was still "limber", (haha.....don't think so) etc.

Best of all, my insurance covered it, and the chiropractor's office did massages too--- also covered by insurance! So even if its a massage you're after, check out a chiropractor that has experience with regnant women (I just called a few places and asked on the phone if they worked with pregnant clients, they all said yes, then I just randomly picked one and ended up really liking the guy).

@walnutems: We have a queen size bed too... and either I sleep on the edge or dh because the snoogle takes up so.much.room. But I do love it! And no matter what, I end up on the edge of the bed!! Oh, and, I've been going to the chiropractor since before my bfp... still going about once a month (I'm 24 weeks) and 99% of the time, my body feels great!! I'd look into it!

I got a prenatal massage and it didn't do ANYTHING for the pain. I enjoyed every second of it but I recommend going into it more for the relaxation than the pain relief.

@bisous: For some reason chiropractors scare me! I know a lot of people that love them and swear by them but I'm a scaredy cat! The thought of telling DH that I need a massage every month or so sounds so much more appealing, haha!

I have a snoogle and see a chiropractor. I'm pretty sure the chiropractor is the only thing that keeps me from being in pain daily. The snoogle doesn't really help that much but it is pretty nice to snuggle with.

@walnutems: Oh-I also saw a chiropractor for the first time. That helped too!
I got a massage while preg but it didn't do any good...they seemed to be too gentle (maybe the woman I got doesn't work with pregnant clients a lot, though).

@walnutems: I had terrible hip pain from 25 weeks to a few weeks PP. Lots. Of. Pillows!

I had a snoogle, too, in our full sized bed (DH was happy when we were done with that!), but I think what helped the most was the pillow between my ankles and the soft pillow under my hip. I kept a pillow between my knees, too, but I was using that when the hip pain appeared. My bed looked like a fort, but it did ease the terrible pain I was feeling in the middle of the night!

I didn't find that using any particular pillow helped very much. I did get into a little routine where I would go to sleep with the pillow, take it away at the first wake-up, put it back at the second, etc. I think that did help a bit.

@walnutems: same with the snoogle. I had terrible hip pain and the snoogle helped a bit. I lucked out and got one through my local moms group for free (just bought a new pillowcase for it).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I went to the chiropractor, too and the inky thing that really helped my hip pain was having my daughter. And then it still ismtakingma while for it to totally go away (I'm 3 weeks post partum).

A pregnacy pillow like the Snoogle helped with my first. This time around I'm lucky to have found the perfect position (curled up a bit with my knees tucked in) and haven't had hip pains so far at 25 weeks. No two pregnancies are alike though. I know I wouldn't have survived without my pillow the first time, and I even continued to use it a few weeks pp.

@walnutems: I'm sorry. I've always had hip issues so being pregnant just aggravates. For me, as much as I hated the snoogle it was the only thing that provided some respite from the achey hips.

I'll be 20 weeks this weekend. I have always, since I was little, slept on my sides with a pillow between my knees. For the past couple weeks I've been waking up in the middle of the night with extremely achy hips! To the point that I wake up and have to grimace when I try to move it hurts so bad.

I've tried to lay on my back to stretch them out but I can't do that for long as it's super uncomfortable. I've resorted to getting up and trying to stretch my hips but that doesn't even really help.

Did/do you have anything like this? How did you remedy it? Would something like a snoogle really help? I'm hesitant to buy something like that because there isn't a lot of extra bed space and I really don't want to have to kick DH out!

Help!!
