We would offer a straw cup numerous times....sometimes she would freak out, we would give Her a bottle, then back to the straw cup. Out of sight, out of mind-she was off bottles within a week, totally. She gets her milk in a metal Foogo before bed now.

We were able to reach E the milk sign (the ONLY one she kmows) which helps a ton. IF we make the sign and repeat it, we know she wants milk in the middle of the night (rare)

Thanks for the tip. I was worried about quitting cold turkey but I might just try it and see what happens. I think I'm scared he'll start waking up in the middle of the night hungry

Same as @lawbee11: we quit cold turkey at 12 months. DD gets milk in a straw cup with dinner and then before bed if she wants some we sit and have some milk out of the straw cup. All her other bedtime routines stayed the same. I wanted to stop early cause I was a bottle addict as a baby/ young child.

We just quit cold turkey. She has milk in a sippy cup with dinner then that's it. We do everything else the same (bath, lotion, pjs, brush teeth, etc). We stopped for the same reason--I was worried about cavities because we wouldn't brush her teeth after she nursed. It was actually pretty painless! I still rock her, just no milk. Good luck!

ETA: We quit at 13 months.

My LO is 16 months and only takes a bottle at night but we would like to wean him off of it. Any tips on weaning? Did your LO still take milk before bed at that age but in a sippy cup? What is your nighttime routine like?

Right now we feed him the bottle in the dark and then rock him for awhile before putting him down. He sometimes drinks more milk after we brush his teeth so I'd like to get away from doing that.
