We have a nissan altima and love it. It actually feels roomier than my rogue (small SUV). We have a graco 4ever installed that I can comfortably sit in front of. It could go behind DH as the driver if it had to, but he's tall so it would be a bit tight. The Extend2fit is even more compact though so that would help.

That said we are a 1 maybe 2 kid family. If we were for sure having 2 or possibly 3 I would definitely want a minivan.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata and love it. It gets great gas mileage (and I don't even have the hybrid version). The back seat is roomier than our Kia Sorento (SUV) back seat. I wouldn't do a mini van for a family of 3 but I'm sort of anti-mini van to begin with.

We have an older model of the Nissan Altima and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The Nissan Altima is a 2010 or 2011. Both are great cars.

The Hyundai Sonata is more spacious in the back and the trunk, and it comes with a lot of great options! We're expecting LO2 next month and I think it'll work just fine for us.

I say if you plan to have 3 kids you should seriously consider the minivan and see how you like it. Unless you think you'll want to replace the current car by then. A minivan might be overkill for 3 people, but man I have a large-ish SUV with 2 kids and a dog and we STUFF that thing. So once you have another kid you may feel like you have significantly less space.

Going car shopping this month. Looking at a 2015 Nissan Altima and 2016 Hyundai Sonata hybrid, and maybe the 2015 Kia Sedona but it feels silly with a family of just 3.

Babe is 10m in a Graco Extend-2-Fit, hoping another baby in the next 2 years in a Chicco Keyfit 30, no 3rd baby until 2020 at least (who knows, right?) Thoughts on those cars in regards to car seat safety / options?

I should clarify... I agree having a minivan at this point is ridiculous size-wise, but again, trying to think long-term. Also, the minivan is actually $1,000 cheaper than the hybrid sedan option, so that's why were considering it. Limited budget, limited inventory (used rental cars.)

Nissan is about 2-3K cheaper than the other 2. Our other car is a Toyota Yaris.
