I'm in Westchester... We just use a blanket or a zip on boot for the car seat. We did use bunting on walks or when I wore the baby.

Thanks....yeah we are in the suburbs....so for driving to & from daycare or other outings.

Sounds like blankets will work. Which is great and doesn't complicate my life!!

(PS...babies are 4.5 months now)

I actually really liked the bundle me, but it's not a necessity.

Blanket is fine. But with my kid I got a bundle me because he won't leave the blanket alone. I've tried just tucking a blanket around him but he gets his hands on it and pulls it out while trying to suck on it and then it's covering his face and he gets mad. The bundle me is a lot harder for him to get in his mouth.

We just used heavy blankets (New England). Be careful of those covers because some of them are actually unsafe for use in carseats in the car (obviously they are fine if you are just using the stroller). We got a bundleme after LO was a toddler for our stroller and it was honestly more annoying to use than just a blanket since you had to deal with the zippers and such (however, she would throw off a blanket so that's why we used it).

Our bucket came with a matching boot so it held all the blankets inside. We never needed anything more.

What @PinkElephant: said- if you will be walking a lot with the car seat in a stroller it's worth it, or you park far away. But if you park in your garage and drive everywhere it will be fine with blankets. The cover is still nice to have but not totally necessary.

I'm in NYC and we've always just used blankets in the bucket car seat. He was born in September so he was in a bucket for the first fall, winter, and spring of his life.

I'm in Ontario, so just as cold or colder than NY/NJ. My son was born in April last year, and we mostly just used fleece jackets and blankets last year with the bucket seat. Depending on how old your babies will be be, you can use a fleece pjs or outfits and cover with fleece blankets or quilts.

I'm in upstate NY and we usually just used a blanket. But I'm assuming you mean relatively short distances like between a car and house, a store, etc not long walks. When we went on stroller walks, I did use the cover.

Are you in an urban area where you'll walk with the stroller a lot? Or do you use a car to get around? For the former, I think the bundlemes could be useful; for the latter tightly tucked blankets should be enough.

If you're not opposed to second hand, I see those covers on eBay/parenting listservs for $10/$15 all the time!

In a NY/NJ type climate....do you think I can get away with just using blankets over my kids in their bucket carseats? Or do I need to purchase one of those car seat covers like:
http://pec967myjn32xclv3mbkizhj.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/JJcar.png

I'll buy two if they are necessary/useful. But if blankets work just as well..........I'm inclined to go that route.
