Luckily our daycare has window ac's in the classrooms. I feel bad because we don't have ac in our house, at one point it was 92 degrees inside! They have big ceiling fans, and it's never felt truly uncomfortable in there, even when the temp is in the 90s. She was 2-4 months old, I was still at home with her on maternity leave, and it was HOT. Like her monitor consistently said 88-89 in her nursery. I hated it but it never seemed to bother her and she was physically fine. I kept her in just a diaper most of the time, and had multiple fans going constantly.</p> <p>[eta] Just looked up the regs in my state, they actually have to keep the temp at 82 or lower in the summer months. For Child Care Centers only, Title 22 Regulations requires the temperature in rooms that children occupy be between a minimum of 68 degrees F (20 degrees C) and a maximum of 85 degrees F (30 degrees C). Some of the public schools do not, but they have early dismissal if it is too hot. So if they can open windows, do fans, etc to keep it under that then the daycare stays open. If they can't get the a/c fixed or the fans aren't enough, they have to close and have parents come get the kids. The electrical can't handle window units either, so it's either run the smart boards, the acs or blow the power out.</p> <p>On really hot days, they usually do early dismissal because of the heat. Over the winter, the furnace broke, and they made all the parents come pick up the kids.
