@Kemma: I haven't, but I don't think that would work for him...I have tried every kind of bribe I can think of and none of them work.

@creativemomma15: that's true, maybe it just feels different with underwear on.

@turkeylurkey: good luck! Our issue is also that whatever reward we have tried works for a while and then stops working...

I think his timing is about right. They change my DS at daycare every 2-3 hours and they write down if he was dry, wet etc. They also put him on the potty first to see if he will go which sometimes he does. At home he fights us to go on the potty and honestly I think it's because he doesn't have to go. But we haven't made the transition of him telling us when he does. We just started rewards last week and that is somewhat helping.

@hilsy85: our DS is really resistant to try if he doesn't have to and will go a lot time in between going. He does a good job of saying when he needs to go. Sometimes I do catch him grabbing himself but that's definitely not happened as much now that he's been in underwear longer. I would always ask when he grabbed himself if he needed to go but I think part of it was just that it all felt different without a diaper.

Have you tried some sort of "toilet timer"? Miss A can be pretty resistant but is usually happy to go once the timer goes off (I set it for five minutes and give her a warning about what's happening). A can go about three hours between toilet breaks and if I know she needs to pee but won't she's also happy to pee on our back lawn!

@hilsy85: I think it's pretty normal and that in time he will get more "patterned." It was hit or miss and still can be as far as pee before nap times but he's out of pull-ups at nap times and just wears undies. Instead of accidents he may it his nap short to use the bathroom (which sucks for my "break") but I think it's just his potty training further maturing and progressing!

I would just wait it out esp since he's going regularly overall

@hilsy85: I would encourage him to pee before sleeping but you cant really "make" him go - you know? Do you still have him diapers for naps and nighttime?

@Mamaof2: @mrsjyw: so you think it's ok that he doesn't go at "normal" times? I just don't know how he's ever going to stay dry during nap or overnight if he won't pee before nap/bed!

sounds normal to me - I swear my kids have bladders of steel! In the span of time that I pee 3 times they pee 1 time!

I've noticed that Ds regularly goes 2-3 hours between pees. He is good about going at wake up and before bedtime as far as "timed" pees, but as far as getting him to go before an outing, it's hit or miss and he does ok in public potties so I don't force it!

So we finally made the switch to full time underwear on Sunday--LO had been consistently using the potty at home while naked, and was able to hold it for long periods of time.

So since he's been in underwear, he's done pretty well--two accidents Sunday morning, but none the rest of the day, none yesterday, and none today. HOWEVER, it is REALLY difficult to get him to go on the potty. He will scream and cry if I try to get him to sit on it, even if I offer rewards/bribes/etc. For instance, he peed on it at 7:40am today, and we left the house at 10am. He refused to go before we left--huge tantrum. And then he held it until 11am, when he used our travel potty.

Basically, is it ok that he is doing this? I feel like it's not good for him to hold it so long...and I also thought that they should be getting into a routine of going at wakeup, before meals, before nap, etc. But he just refuses. Any thoughts?

ETA I should also add that sometimes I REALLY think he needs to go--he'll be grabbing his crotch, etc. But still refuses.
