We spent many many hours obsessing over this very question and we talked to our doctors about it, lactation consultants, childbirth class instructors, etc. Then we had our babies, both of us had abundant supply, and we're both still nursing our 18 month olds. And I am 30 weeks pregnant, and haven't even had supply issues during pregnancy. I had a little to feed my son and continued nursing during my maternity leave because he liked it but I had to pretty much fully supplement pretty early on. As @sarac: said, it CAN be a sign, but as you see from all these other moms, it's unlikely. The vast majority of women are able to make plenty of milk!</p> <p>If you do have issues, goat's rue is an herb that is known for increasing glandular tissue. There is a supplement that includes it called More Milk Special Blend that I really recommend! My boobs didn't grow one bit with my first pregnancy and my issue ended up being too much milk, not too little. At only 2 days pp, the LC in the hospital joked that 50 years ago they would have hired me on the spot to be a wet nurse for the entire nursery.
