We started using it around 16 months- yes, it is a loooong process (probably took around 2 months to get consistent results, but we also traveled a few times and weaned which was disruptive). But it worked for us, and I'm really happy with it at 21 months! I would take something in with me to do so I wasn't twiddling my thumbs waiting- even just my phone with HB on it made the time pass easier.

We've had a nice long chain of good bedtimes for several months now, so I'm more than thrilled. Sure, we have crappy bedtimes once a every week or two, but usually because our day was off sleep-wise.

Reinforcing our bedtime routine helped- brush teeth, a naked lap around the house (silly, yes- but he loves it!), pajamas, pick a book and read it, put book away, then he walks to his crib and has us lift him in. Turn on Scout and his crib music entertainer, blow a few kisses, say goodnight, then leave. He's usually out within a minute or two and either of us can run the routine.

I got this book a few weeks ago and just now got around to reading it, hoping it would help me find non-CIO ways to address LO's at times disastrous sleep at 22 months.

I read a chunk today and my reaction so far has been to feel bad about being impatient and not wanting to sit in the dark with LO for an hour while she settles down enough to sleep. I am hoping to get past this feeling and into more of the solutions eventually.

In the meantime, any success stories to cheer me up??
