Mine was 44 hours total. But it was successful. It was at 39 weeks. But it was my first child though.

No bonus points here. Both if my inductions took over 48 hrs :bummed: but I was induced at 0 cm first time and 1/2 cm w second. Both resulted in successful vaginal births. I needed Foley bulbs for both and pitocin

My water broke around 4am, by 7am I was on pitocin. I was maybe 1 cm dilated.... but I'd been there for at least a week anyways. Epidural around noon/1. After 3 hours of pushing my 10lb son was born at 9:40 pm. ( I think he would have been born earlier but shift change was 6pm and they didn't have me start pushing till after and I had no urges to push...) So my induced labor was around 18 hours.

I went into labor late at night on my due date after having some time with my husband. :silly: I went to the hospital the next morning and had my baby about 24 hours after I was induced due to a high amniotic fluid leak. I was either a 0 or a 1 at the time of induction. I pretty much did not dilate at all past the 1 for something like 12 hours. I was fully effaced, though. My lovely angel of a nurse broke up some scar tissue for me and I immediately dilated to a 5. She went home, and came back the next day for her next shift 12 hours later. She broke up some more scar tissue and my baby was born less than an hour later with 4 pushes.

So its totally possible to have the baby within 24 hours after being induced! I expect my baby #2 to come a lot quicker and maybe yours will, too!! I'm so excited for you. Please come back and tell us how it all goes down for you. :goodluck:

ETA: I was told that getting the epidural slows down dilation. So I labored with increasing levels of pitocin for 12 hours before getting the epidural because I was still at a one and exhausted so I threw in the towel. I will probably labor again - with or without pitocin - for a while just in hopes that it makes baby come quicker since I will now have LO#2 at home waiting for me.

Not me, a doula client. She also had low platelets, but they didn't induce due to that, she was induced at 41+5. She was "maybe" 1 cm and not effaced at the start. 1 round of cervidil, followed by a dose of cytotec + foley bulb at the same time and her body kicked into gear. No pitocin needed. Cytotec and foley bulb administered at 5:30 am and the baby was born just before 5 pm.

2 inductions that my body handled super well though they were sloooooow. lo1 at 37w due to low fluid and not dilated/effaced at alllll--took 36 hrs BUT really easy delivery and labor was only really hard for a couple hours (I was stubborn and didn't get an epidural until I was on pit for 12 hours). lo2 was 41w and I was a little further along, still waited 12 hours on pit for the epi but labor was only 16hrs that time and delivery was even easier (I pushed 5 min).

If we have a 3rd (big if...) and I had to be induced again, I'd get the epi sooner! I liked being able to move around while laboring but both times after I got the epi, I took an amazing nap while my body quickly did all the work of laboring down and dilating. Seriously, without it I barely progressed, and with it, I napped and was suddenly ready to go. like, from 4 to 10 cm in just a couple hours of resting, both times.

I was induced at 39w with my first due to GD, I was zero everything; totally shut tight. Started cervadil at around 1am, had a 2nd round at some point the next morning, then finally progressed enough to get pitocin/epidural after noon; started pushing at 9pm and she came out just before 11pm. So it was under 24 hours!

I went in a 1cm dialated and 0% effaced and had a “successful” vaginal delivery 75 hours later. I did two rounds of cytotec, a foley bulb (biggest mistake was not doing pitocin with the foley bulb), then pitocin after the foley came out. I was on pitocin for 24h with no progress, then they broke my water and I started pumping every hour for 15 min. That got me to 10cm in about 8 hours and then I pushed for 3.5 hours and had significant tearing.

This time around I am going to do hardcore acupuncture probably starting at 37/38 weeks because I will do just about anything to avoid another induction.

I was induced at 39+2 due to gestational diabetes.

I walked around at a 3 for weeks and then my midwife stripped my membranes. She wouldn't induce even though I asked (I was almost 41.5 weeks). The strip did it and I went into labor three hours later.

I was induced at 41 weeks. I had nothing. Zero zilch nada in terms of effacement, dilation. The doc said I was one of those women who I’d left alone might have had the baby in there til ...who knows
I had a cervadil induction with pitocin and an epidural. It took about 24 hours. I progressed well and pushed for about an hour. Tiny tear with one stitch. I also got the epidural right after they started pitocin, looking back I should have just gotten it before

I checked in at 5pm and got a dose of cervadil. At 9pm I was having contractions and dilated just enough for my OB to break my water. At midnight I got an epidural and went to sleep. I woke up at 6am, got checked, and was 10cm. I sat up in bed and labored down for an hour. I started pushing at 7:15 and DD1 was born at 7:48am. It was very easy.

So I don't get any bonus points because my inductions were both 2 days long, but the second one was faster! Both of mine were at 37 weeks due to pre-eclampsia and I was <1 cm each time. I really think the second one would have gone more quickly if my cervix wasn't naturally so high/back (I'm always told how difficult it is to reach). I was dilated enough for the OB to break my water early on the 2nd day, but it was so high/back she couldn't break it and we had to wait. Once she broke my water things went VERY quickly (almost too quickly - get an epidural BEFORE they break your water! don't be like me and wait). Even after waiting for her to break my water, DD2 would have been born within 1-2 hours if they hadn't turned off my Pitocin and made me wait because the OB was in a C-section.

ETA: I was made to labor in bed due to the pre-eclampsia, so if you can move around I bet it will be way faster!

With my first I was induced at 38w and was completely closed up. I delivered him in about 25 hours. My second I was also induced at 38w. I was 1cm and not effaced. This one I delivered quicker.. in about 20 hours.

I was induced at 41 weeks with my first (I think I was somewhat effaced, but I can’t remember). I was given pitocin and my midwife broke my water. From check-in to birth it was 12 hours and, although I pushed for a really long time, everything was great.
My second child came on her own, 2 days before her due date. Labor was about 7 hours total. My midwife never told me if I was dilated or effaced, but I also had low platelets. Maybe baby #2 will come early!

I was I think 1cm when I was induced with DD1. It was a pretty quick labor for a first baby (10 hours from the first contraction to her coming out). But I’d say your saving grace is you’ve given birth before so this one will probably be quicker! GL!

I think I’ve told you before that I was induced for low platelets at 39 weeks. 0 cm dilated. 50% effaced (but I swear they were exaggerating). My labor from first dose of cytotec to birth was 9.5 hours. I got two doses of cytotec and that was it. Got an epidural 8 hours in. Incredibly fast and easy. I did have a bad tear but not sure it was related.

Mine was about 23 hours from arriving at the hospital to birth. :silly:

I started at 0cm and 0% effaced. First I was given cervadil which dilated me to 2cm (over six hours). Then 12 hours of pitocin while furiously pacing the labor wing, then laboring in the shower once it finally got going. The midwife broke my water at 7cm and my LO was born 9 minutes later.

So I'm probably just killing time here and maybe jumping the gun BUT anyway.....

With LO1 I had no dilation or effacement at 38 wks, 1cm/90% effaced at 39, 40, and 41 weeks. I was induced at 41+1 and LO1 was born at 41+2 after a long, rough 24-hour induction.

I'm being induced this time at 40wks due to low platelets. I imagine I'll be 0-1cm dilated and maybe effaced. I'm not getting my hopes up (I'm not dilated or effaced right now at 38 weeks). I'm also not trying any natural labor induction methods because I did them all last time and they didn't work. I walk a ton (I'm a teacher) and I nurse my son 15-30 min a day.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your stories about how you had very little dilation or effacement yet you still had a "successful" induction resulting in a vaginal birth.... bonus points if it was under 24 hours, haha. Just want to remind myself it is possible and stay positive :)
