My LO is 8 months and never rolls. I’ve seen her roll 1 time, and they’ve reported seeing it at daycare a couple of times; but she has NO interest in rolling and never has. She likes to sit up and scoot around to move – she doesn’t crawl either. She also doesn't mind tummy time; just doesn't roll. She seems to be developing fine, I’m not worried about it! ;-)

LO rolled back to tummy first but never practiced. She just did it one day, but we thought she never would. She loved tummy time and, therefore, had no interest in trying to roll tummy to back.

I'd say around 5 months or so, LO just started rolling over happily to his stomach and then back to his back. Before that, tummy time still wasn't fun. We had to Amazon Prime some soft kids mat so he could roll all over our carpet. I think part of it was that we stopped swaddling him and allowed him to roll in his crib freely. He does that at daycare, so having it at home maybe gave room for some more development. He's not interested in crawling, my current worry.

My son hated tummy time as well (would scream) but ultimately did learn to roll tummy to back right around 4 months....and then back to tummy a few weeks later. Just keep on practicing it!

haha! me me ! LO didn't show any interest in rolling over until 5 months? I forgot - but all my friends' babies are rolling over at 2-3 months. For him he just laid there like a piece of tofu lol. He just had no desire to do that regardless of what we did!

But I promise you, one day that will suddenly happen! I think for us he mastered crawling BEFORE he mastered rolling over. I think right around the time he started rolling over, he started crawling also - at 5.5 months, way faster than other babies :)

This was my baby exactly!!! He actually didn't roll until after 6 months and it was in his crib! He hated tummy time with a passion...so much so that I got an occupational therapy consult for him at 8 months. 2 days later he started crawling and since, he's been totally content on his tummy. To this day though, he has never ever log rolled and will never roll from his tummy onto his back. And if he ends up on his back, he sometimes gives a look of shock and confusion as if he doesn't know what to do.

Ditto!! L has zero interest and still hates tummy time. Apparently rolling over is more of a 6 month milestone, which means they have another two months to figure it out. That made me feel better!

A rolled back to tummy at 4.5 months. He can only roll tummy to back if I put his arms in the right position, but he prefers to have his arms at his sides. He's almost 5 months. A lot of our mom/baby friends started rolling over (on purpose) a lot earlier.

I'm not going to lie, I have cried a little when I get home from seeing all these superbabies. I try to remember that those moms have every right to be excited about what their babies can do. Some day I'll be that excited - although I feel pretty good that A can roll back to tummy. I think he *might* be an early crawler. LOL, every mom says that.

ds was exactly the same way then boom! One day all he did was roll over and will only roll over now. He loveeees to "walk" and we never thought he'd roll, but then it just randomly happened.

S was really weird about physical milestones. He never "practiced" anything, and didn't seem like he had any interest in it, until like the day of the average age babies did a task (except for crawling, he was a month late on that), then he mastered it in like 30 seconds on that day. He literally learned to crawl, transition crawl to sit and sit to crawl, as well as cruising/standing to sitting all in abut 2 hours in 1 day.

I find a lot of babies that are just on time, or behind on the physical milestones are ahead in the "social" ones though, which is really fun!

Yes, somewhere around 5ish months he finally got it. It was driving me crazy at swim class, all the other babies were way ahead of him. I finally had enough and we worked on it a lot for a few days... soon after he got it. Not long after that he started rolling in the crib and started sleeping better on his tummy. By that point, I was just thrilled to get a full night's sleep.

@FutureMrsMcK: Want to know something creepy? I remembered that your LO had rolled over not *that* long ago and I remembered that you had posted about it so I went back through your posts the other day to estimate how old E was when he rolled over haha. I figured out that it was around 4 months :)

Elliot wants to WALK. He is completely over these little milestones and wants to just go. He's happiest when we're standing him up and he stomps his feet and walks haha. Silly boy :)

Definitely, E HATED tummy time. Then somewhere around 4 months he started rolling from back to stomach....and now I can't keep him on his back for anything! I have to pin him down to change his diaper! He can roll stomach to back, but it's rare. I just don't think he cares to...he's more more interested in getting up on his hands and knees and trying to crawl.

@stargal: That gives me a lot of hope! I'll just keep waiting :) I do tummy time with him still but he will only tolerate it when he's already really happy and even then it ends in fussiness haha. Oh well.

No advice here but I'm sort of in the same situation... LO is about 5 mo now and only rolls belly to back, hates tummy time. Rolls from back to side, aaaaalmost to belly and then stops and smiles. Lol. Oh well, it'll happen sometime. She has really strong legs but hates tummy time STILL. I'm grateful for her temperament and sleeping habits so far, so I can wait for rolling!!!

Yup p hated Tummytime and had no interest in rolling over.... He did it a couple times around 4 months and then stopped. Then at 6 months hr started doing it all the time. He still hates being on his belly for more then a minute! Don't worry I thought for sure p would skip rolling but he does it. I think it took him a while BC he doesn't like his belly. To this day he hates his tummy. Lol

I have seriously given hope that Elliot will roll over lol. He turned 4 months old last week so I know that logically he still has time but he has ZERO interest in it. He hates tummy time and he can't seem to coordinate what his arms are supposed to do in order to make rolling over happen.

I know that rationally someday he will, in fact, roll over but I can't imagine him ever being interested enough to actually accomplish it.

Anyone else have an uninterested baby who finally ended up rolling over? Give me hope!
