I would do a hat and tuck a thick blanket over her after she is buckled in to the seat!

@blackbird: @Smurfette: I agree with needing a hat for the cuteness factor! As soon as I put Xander's hat on at daycare, all the ladies swarm him because he looks sooooooo adorable in his hat! I need to take a picture for you all! :)

I put her hat on (a wool one) and wrap her jacket around her as we bolt for the door. I see too many parents pulling their kids out of their carseats with big, bulky jackets on. :(

I fold a fleecy baby blanket up so that it is double thickness and tuck it around her in the car seat.

@Adira: We still are using the infant seat, but usually leave in the car. I will take it in tonight, so it isn't cold when I strap her in. I don't take it in to day care cause they changed where you have to leave them, so don't have as much room. But that reminds me, I have mittens, so I need to get those out and try them out tomorrow. Although I am sure she will rip them in 5 secs.
@Silva: Yes, I can run out the car and turn it on and then get her strapped in the car seat inside the house. These mornings make me wish we had a garage!
@blackbird: You need a hat, just for the cuteness factor

I use a cable knit blanket. E seems totally unphased by it all for the short walk

I don't even have a hat, ha. Daycare has heat :)

I don't really do anything. She has on a fleece or cotton jacket, socks and a hat, and then I just don't linger. I figure a couple minutes isn't going to hurt her. She doesn't seem to mind, so...

BUT, I haven't taken her out in weather that's been colder than 30 yet, so I can't comment to below freezing weather yet! In that case, I'd probably just wrap her up in a blanket.

Remember a lot of heat is lost through the head. So a good hat plus a blanket is often enough just to run the twenty steps from car to daycare.

Are you still using the infant bucket seat or have you moved to a convertible?

We're using the infant seat, so for Xander, I put on his hats and mittens and then wrap a blanket around him (and tuck it under his feet to keep them warm). So far that seems to work for us! Not sure what we'll do when we move to a convertible seat though... I guess buy a jacket, haha.

It is supposed to be below freezing tonight and in the AM. So I am not sure what to do when moving R from the car to day care. Just wrapping her in a blanket doesn't seem like it is enough.

What do you do?
