I'm glad things are picking up! If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to go in. I went in for monitoring 3 times, and each time the nurses told me that they were glad I came and that they always would rather you be overly cautious.

I would go in for monitoring if they don't go back to normal soon. I had low amniotic fluid, and this was how I knew that it was becoming an issue. That was way at the end, not so early like you, but still. I would be concerned, personally.

@Mrs Hedgehog: I was going to say definitely call, but I read that you did. I'm glad baby's movements are picking up. Doc told me this week I should be noticing longer periods of no movements because babes are establishing a nap cycle (35w for me). Do you ever poke or shake your belly when you don't feel movement? Maybe I shouldn't be doing this, but when it has been a few hours since I've noticed movement, I poke around a bit and usually it'll move out of the way. Like I said, glad babe is moving for you now, what a relief, but keep monitoring!

I've started getting more kicks. Still not what she normally is but there is definite movement. I talked to my nurse line and since her movements are picking back up they just want me to keep track of them and ball back in a few hours. If it still isn't where it needs to be then I will be going in. They said it isn't unusual for movement to slow for a day or so and pick back up and since there is movement they aren't super concerned at this point.

This happened to me at 35w3d and I went in to find my fluid was low (they thought it had broken) and the cord blood flow was severely lacking. They delivered LO a few hours later. BUT I had IUGR and high blood pressure, which contributed to the situation so please don't freak out, just go get checked out.

So after a huge soda and sitting in a quiet room I did feel some pressure which I usually take to mean she is stretching. I decided to wait and see if it happened again. About an hour later I got one big wiggly movement and a couple small jabs. Nothing since. If her movements stay this lacking I will be calling but feeling her stretch and the big movement was reassuring at least.

Now that I know she CAN move I do worry about her extremely few movements. Ugh... maybe I am just being a paranoid FTM.

This happened to me with DS. They told me to drink OJ and lay on my side. If that didn't work to do the same after eating a lot of sugar. I still had no movement so they brought me in for a non-stress test. Turns out DS was moving around just fine, I just couldn't feel any of it! I was even having some mild contractions and I felt nothing. Anyway during the test, as part of their attempt to get me to feel movement (and lower my anxiety), they banged large metal spoons really close to my belly, hoping the noise would get DS kicking around. Maybe you could try that, but in all honesty I would be calling your OB/midwife/on-call doctor now just to be on the safe side.

This happened to me a few nights ago and they told me to come to hospital straight away for monitoring. All was fine but they said it was a very good thing that I called - if a baby is feeling poorly (and there's a host of rare but serious reasons baby might be), their movements reduce, like us lying about going "ugh, im ill". Your care team need to know this. If they monitor and all is fine, you feel better and everyone is happy - no damage done. If they monitor and all is not fine you will be SO GLAD you caught it on time.

Keep us in the loop.
