The same thing happened to us and our ped said it was totally normal. We also talked to other parents w/ babies the same age who are experiencing the same thing.

Our dr told us that he has some EBF patients who only poop once a week and that if they don't seem uncomfortable it is okay.

DD is 11 weeks now and EBF, she went from pooping multiple times a day to once a day and today had three massive poops including a blowout that went mostly up her back. So I think it's pretty normal.

@PurpleUnicorn: It's pretty nice. LO has been pooping only 1-2 times per week since she was about 3 months old!

@Weagle: yes, he is EBF. i have been googling this issue and found several other moms experienced the same thing with their EBF babies around the same age and their peds told them it was normal as long as he doesn't seem uncomfortable. L seems totally fine, just no poop! So that makes me feel better, but I will still call his ped today to make sure and see if she wants me to bring him in.

If this is totally normal and we will only get poop a couple of times a week now, then I guess that's not a bad thing, lol.

Is he EBF? That's very very common for BF babies, especially around that age. Chances are, you dont need to take any action unless he's uncomfortable or his stomach is distended.

My baby used to poop 2 - 4 times per day, without fail. I had always read though that if they poop every 2 - 3 days, then they are okay. So last week my baby went 2 days with no poppy, we started to get worried as it differed from his usual pattern, but then on the third day, he had 2 massive blowouts. That was Thursday. Now again, no poop friday, saturday or sunday. So today I am going to call the doctor and see what's up. I wanted to ask here though if anyone has experienced this with their baby and what it means/happened? I hope it just means his pooping patterns have changed now that he is 4 months old....

eta: L is exclusively breastfed if that makes a difference in this situation.
