Yup, we got rid of our coffee table and set up a play mat instead. It sucks that we don't really have a place to keep our laptops/snacks/drinks but it's nice not having to worry about L bonking her head.

@oliviaoblivia: Doesn't it make you sad to think about having to sell it? DH's response was: "2020...then we can buy a new flat screen tv and unwrap our noguchi and take off the sofa plastic wrap and use our knife bar and have sex again."

I have a vintage wheat sheaf table in storage because it's totally not child safe. I should probably just sell it at this point.

@betsyboop: Funny, earlier this year DH was saying how this table will be child-friendly because of the rounded corners.

Funny you mention this bc as my lo has become more mobile i have been planning on getting the noguchi to replace our sharp-cornered coffee table! Will most definitely be rethinking this, thank you!

@caffeinated: We had a shag rug at the time and the legs were wedged into it, so moving the legs would have been hard. I can see that happening on a smoother surface though. I just had a bad feeling with having it out with kids so we put it away. My husband was sad about it too.

@BoogieBea: i worry that they'll move the legs which will tip the glass over. i found a thread on apartment therapy, and one woman spoke about how a family friend lost their kid because of the table! DH was quite sad when i brought it up.

We have this table too. It's currently wrapped up in our garage. It's pretty heavy so I don't think they can knock over it on top of them but I do worry about them banging their heads on the side of the glass.

We have a noguchi table in our living room, and i've been questioning its child friendliness ever since LO started rolling around. I have horrifying images of her pulling on the 160 lb glass top and having it crush her.

Our plan is to have the living room be the adult room, and the basement be the main play area. Still, should we think about storing the coffee table away when she starts walking? Do you guys have furniture that you've had to store away since having kids?
