Since becoming pregnant, I've become sensitive to noise. Loud TV bothers me and sudden loud noises like a random dog's bark in the house will make me jump. I don't know how to deal with it either. I was hoping this would go away post-birth! Guessing it might not...

I totally sympathize, I have terrible anxiety about people noise. The kids playing in my street, embarrassingly, piss me off because I hate hearing noise from other people when I'm in my house. When we lived in an apartment it was hoooorrible. So yeah, it sucks and my only advice is to just talk yourself down in hour head. I *know* the kids are being kids and it's so great they are outdoors playing, so I just keep repeating that. :(

I can't handle background noise at all. I HATE the TV, I didn't even have one in my house til DH moved in! If im watching something, fine, but if I'm not (which is most of the time) the constant noise from it drives me crazy! Its like someone scraping their nails down a blackboard.

I sort of have the same issue. I don't mind the tv on at all but I hate when it's loud. And I have really good hearing so I keep it low and DH keeps is so loud. Our entire relationship I have been telling him to turn the tv down. He got headphones for video games but then he talks to people online and shouts because its so loud in his ear. Ugh we actually got in an argument about it last night because he woke me up.

No advice just sympathy. I tell DH to turn the tv down at least twice a day.... Now he just calls me sonic ear :)

I tell FI to put on his headphones because the noise stops me from relaxing! But I'm outspoken like that.
Would he go for wireless headphones?

@highwire: the worst for me is noise from multiple sources all at the same time. growing up, my family liked to have the tv on, music in the background, then yell over the top of it to talk to each other. agh!

maybe if you just keep telling him to turn it down, he'll get the picture and leave it down? or, other option: conveniently "lose" a TV cord ;)

does he turn the TV down if you ask him to?

Ever since LO was born I've had on and off struggles with PPD. Something that is still lingering is sensitivity to noise. Particularly tv. I just want to set my tv on fire! DH plays it so incredibly loud all the time and I'm having such anxiety from the noise of it! I just hate it. I need some silence!

I think it also steam from the fact that I need to be able to listen and hear if the baby is crying and that's hard to do when my house is filled with noise.

Anyone else noise sensitive? Any ideas on how to address this?
